Taillight gasket question

I'm in the process of replacing taillight gaskets in the hopes of fixing a water/moisture issue (I've read all the history - might be the gasket, might be the sealing of the lamp itself).

I've ordered the large foam gaskets. However, the parts list also shows that the side taillights use some of the o-ring type gaskets that are used in the center section (P/N 75523-SD4-003), but not enough for all of the threaded posts. So where are these supposed to go? If these were on my taillights when I removed them they were so far gone that I couldn't even tell which posts they were on. These gaskets in the center section had similarly disappeared, with just a few remnants remaining.

It's also unclear to me where this fifth gasket P/N 75528-SD4-003 goes in the center section.

Photos of all of these parts can be found in this thread: http://www.nsxprime.com/forum/showthread.php/162841-Resealing-tail-lights?highlight=75523-SD4-003

Just replace the 4 large gaskets. I think the little ones are more like soft washers and since the center section is sealed it doesn't get moisture in it.

Can others that have replaced taillight gaskets confirm that they only replaced the large foam gaskets and didn't have water intrusion problems?

I will confirm having done about 50+ NSX reartaillights gaskets. they are a soft washer not even needed. you only need to replace the 2 main and the 2 smaller ones.

now if you MUST have those soft washers try and order them. or buy a new center light. or make them yourself with any kinda thin rubber material you can find.

your next thread will prob be how to remove your rear lights LOL just ask we are here to help... well most of us...

other sources of rear water condensation can be...

power antenna drain tube is clogged,
your passengerside trunk air gasket is stuck open or something is stopping it from closing.
your drains in front of and under the trunk shocks are clogged and is making water back up into the trunk.

if your car is a 2002-2005 the rear mini sub spoiler gaskets are leaking.

and last, if your car has had moisture in it the bottom of the tools foam has a jutt mat under it and it will hold water for years. you need to take it out and feel the bottom if its wet sit it out in the sun for a few days let it dry out then re-install it.

or your rear tails have a crack in them. try pressing on the reverse light lens( the clear part ) if it presses in then you have a leak in the lens.

those are the only reason water etc. could enter your trunk.

It's also unclear to me where this fifth gasket P/N 75528-SD4-003 goes in the center section.

I'm pretty sure that small round fifth gasket goes around the trunk lock cylinder. Alternatively it would make an adequate cock ring for an Irishman. :)

@Shawn - Thanks once again! Remember me; I came down to look at (and ended up buying) a '91 near you a couple months back.

Okay, now that you've regaled us with all of the potential trunk water-leak issues, how about the taillights? My issue is water in the taillight itself, not in the trunk. I've seen that many say its the top edge of the light that's pulled away over time and letting water in. Mine is slightly bowed, but isn't obviously letting water in. Anything else I should look for?
