I'm planning on taking my 6th trip up to the dragon. The roads up here are some of the best in the county to drive. The dragon has 318 curves in 11 miles. I'm attending an annual S2000 event for this. We have usually around 100 cars and always a few Nsx since owners like myself start off with S2000's. Here is a link with the event info and hotel http://www.s2ki.com/s2000/topic/912924-wtdx-registration-info-thread/ If you are interested let me know and I can give further details:smile:

Its was good hanging with you and you girl this weekend. Thanks for letting me sit in your seats. I like. I can come up. I go to the dragon alot..

It's been fun in years passed. You all stay safe and enjoy!

As it gets closer i will post more details. If you are serious about going i do suggest you make your hotel reservations with Fontaina asap. It is very rural up there and there are not many places to stay and its a drive to get food

it's only about 4 hours for me and I typically stay in Bryson city also. It's a fun little run up 28 to get the tires ready.

as a traffic lawyer,i wonder what the situation is with speeding tickets on the dragon.it's a well-known place for people to drive fast.do they give out a lot of tickets,or do they kind of leave people alone?because it sounds like a hell of a fun place to drive,so i was just wondering what my odds of getting a ticket were if i went there to have some fun.

earlier this year the place was packed..we really never exceeded any speed limits and still had a blast..HOWEVER....the cops can be aholes..first hand on the bike....cross the lines.ticket..speed ticket..following too close ..you got it..all based on their view of what you do wrong..

I have seen a few days on the TN side where law enforcement was heavy, but just as many times when I didn't see any at all. Usually not a problem. There are plenty of other roads to drive if they're cracking down on the Dragon any particular day.

Wow - I guess I'm the only one who doesn't like the dragon.

There are just too many idiots. I guess if you could go when no one else is around it would be awesome!

My experience was there are a$$holes in crotch rockets passing cars on blind turns, and then there's also the Harley cruiser group going as slow as possible.

It's truly a wonder more people aren't killed there.

THIS is us at the Gap about 15years ago about 2pm on a saturday . Nobody was up there and nobody really knew Killboy much till he posted this video in the old store ..We were stupid but that area was pretty quiet and hardly anybody knew of it. Since Speed Channel did their piece. It HAS become a zoo.

I have attended the event many times in the past with my S2K and once with the X. I stay at Fonatna Village along with the rest of the attendee's, Raul and his staff put on a great event. Beer swap is a blast along with sipping burbon and smoking cigars near the ball field. I make one run up and down the Dragon but spend most of my time exploring the many other roads in the area which are awesome coming from the flat lands of the midwest. I highly recommend attending.

We usually leave Tampa on Wednesday so we arrive Thursday. The best days to drive the Dragon is during the week. Saturday is very busy and I drive a lot of other roads. There are always cops up there like anywhere else. The biggest thing they write tickets for is crossing the double yellow. That means not staying in your lane and I'm not talking about passing. Almost every accident is a single vehicle one from people driving above their limits. This trip is one I take every year now and has some of the best roads and scenery I have ever experience. Lots of waterfalls and mountain roads. The S2000 community has a great reputation up there and most people drive responsibly.

More importantly, what are the odds of getting OFF a ticket, Mr. Lawyer dude?

I'm giving it serious consideration. . . shall we all stay at the same place or just congregate where we will. It'd be my first run up there so I'm a neophyte. However... it's a good preliminary for a possible NSXPO in NC in 2014.

Maryville and that whole area is a fun place to run. Not Too big on the nightlife and some of those areas are dry counties..If you stay close to the Gap. There is a casino up there but it's not all that.

If it is your first time making the run, just be careful starting from either direction of the Dragon. Some of the corners will sneak up on you. I've been up there with the S200 guys and the Miata crew. They have room for error and some went into the mountain trying to push it. One of the guys in the video totalled his Viper up there at the cravity gavity (the Bowl). They were just try to be too fast for there.

Now with that said, I'm ready to go now. That's a great drive if it doesnt have a bunch of people or the Swift trucks on it.
