my tach registers about 1,000 under what it should be. for example, at idle it sits at zero, when i blip the throttle it moves up respectively. i had the cluster out during installation of white gauges and during installation the needle did slide over the little stop post. i carefully moved it back and it seemed to move as it did prior. no resistance or anything unusual.

did i break it? any ideas?
thanks!

I did the same thing when I installed my gauges...

what you probably did is over-rotate the tach needle counter-clockwise.

what I did to correct the problem was to slightly over-rotate the tach needle in the clockwise direction. (once you feel resistance on the needle, extend it as far as you feel the tach is off by) If you over rotate it CLOCK-WISE, then you can rotate it COUNTER CLOCK-WISE little by little. Make sure your car is warmed up and see where the tach needle sits, and use that as your guide for where your rpms should be.

good luck,
Allen

Make sure the faces are laying flat.
There can be a bubble and it is very hard to see them. Mine did this and it would rub and slow down the needle.
