There might be a remote possibility you can get the bracket off without removing the blower, but it would really not be a good idea. It is very tight in there, and the entire job will be slower, harder, and more painful with the blower in place. I am not sure you would actually be able to get the lower timing cover out, very doubtful. I can assure you this, I will never find out, I take it off.First time, going cautiously, maybe two hours to get the blower off. Remember you do not have to disassemble it, just take the entire blower/manifold off together as a unit. You have a 1997 so the EVAC is not there, and I recall only one small coolant line for that year.HTH,LarryB
