I finally got around to getting under the car today to install the chassis bars and a new swaybar. The hard part was fairly easy, but the part I thought would be easy, was not.

Is there something special as far as disconnecting the links from the old swaybar? The 17mm nut was fairly well frozen, and the entire threaded stud coming from the round part of the link (with a rubber boot and grease in it) rotated loose instead. Never was able to get it to tighten up again.

So, to the experts out there, what did I do, and how do I fix it?

TIA...

Later,
Charles

Thanks CL65... I saw that in the manual, too, but it didn't make any sense. The allen hex nut was in the lower part of the link and there was just a thin spindle connecting the two joints.

So by loosening the allen hex on the bottom, I should be able to get the threaded bolt off of the 17mm nut on the top link? We'll try again tomorow.

Sorry to be so dense on this one. What I thought was going to be a 4 to5 hour project turned into a frustrating 10 hour exercise in futility.

At least I got the chassis bars in.

To loosen the bolt, use a 17 wrench and a hammer, hold the wrench tight and use the hammer to hit the wrench a few times, until the bolt is loose. then you stick the allen wrench in the stud and hold it in place while you unscrew the bolt with the 17 wrench
