Sway bars create oversteer?

I'm going based on memory here. I've read/heard that the NSX is more prone to understeer than oversteer. To help offset this, some people have installed aftermarket swaybars to create oversteer. Am I correct in say this?

I would rather have my car oversteer than understeer. I'm used to the handling characteristics of my S2000 and that thing will oversteer just by thinking about it.

I can't seem to remember the NSX's f/r weight distribution. Anyone know?

I believe the published front/rear weight distribution of the NSX to be around 40% front, 60% rear. The FAQ would most likely have the exact percentages. When I corner-balanced my car (before various engine and exhaust mods that affected the balance), I want to say I was 38.2% front, 61.8% rear, with an even cross weight (both with me in the car).

As for aftermarket sway bars causing oversteer - in my opinion that seems to be too much a generalization. The car's handling characteristics depend on your tires, your alignment settings, your spring rates and dampers, and a number of other factors. Also, one person's idea of mild oversteer might be another's nightmare. :)

With my setup, I found the most "neutral" handling characteristics with aftermarket front sway on the recommended setting and no rear sway bar. I am using Tein REs with 10kg/10kg springs. With the 12kg rear springs and the rear sway bar, the car oversteered far far to much. Replacing the springs helped, removing the sway bar helped more. The car will now understeer at mid speed turns (50mph) with no throttle, and will oversteer with full throttle. To me, balanced (what I would call neutral), and I feel comfortable driving this way.

Although oversteer is the same literaly for any car, don't think that the oversteer of a rear mid engine design is going to be as fun or controllable as a front mid engine design like the S2000 in your example. The key to adjusting overall handling is to do one thing at a time and test each change. As your car sits now is it stock? If so then stiffening your rear bar might help. However your understeer now may be abnormal , due to other things like tires,or susp alignment. We would need more info on your car.
