Do you really have to remove the Timing Belt to change out the oil pan?

Oil Pan Removal

Drain engine oil. Remove timing belt. See TIMING BELT . Remove dipstick and dipstick pipe. See Fig. 30 . Remove oil filter assembly. Remove oil pan bolts and oil pan.

Installation

1. To install oil pan, reverse removal procedure. Repair or replace oil pan if deformed to maintain proper clearance between oil pickup screen and bottom of pan. Apply liquid gasket to oil pump and left side (rear) cover mating surfaces as shown. See Fig. 61 . Install and finger-tighten 6 oil pan bolts. See Fig. 77 .
2. Install remaining oil pan bolts. Tighten in clockwise pattern beginning at bolt No. 1 in 3 steps to proper specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .

why is everyone suggest not to use liquid or goo gasket?
it is the only thing that came with my ARC oil pan so I had to use it, I hope I never need to take off the pan again.

Depending on the type of sealant that came with your pan, you may have answered your own question. Sealant oozes to both the outside and inside, you can finish my thought.

Even in these areas? So you are saying to just put the new gasket on the pan and bolt in place?
