Swapping Acura dash mph for Honda dash with kph

Does anyone know if you can just swap the Acura dash with the mph clock and milage counter for a 'normal' Honda unit which does everything in the metric km / hour units and km driven.

I know that the position of some of the warning lights is different but I wonder if I can just swap the units without running into problems.

Reasons for asking is that I'm thinking about getting a Acura NSX but would like to convert everything back to a Japanese / European dash unit.

Yeap... it works... i recently sold one cluster to Bert in Taiwan (the guy who made the NSX-R engine cover replicas) and it worked... a couple of warning lights showed, but were due to some problems he had and not anything with the new cluster.

His screen name here on prime is Red-N.

Which one? The only difference I recall is the writing of the ALB (ABS) indicator.

You may want to change the CCU unit and the steering wheel as well.

I don't see any problem with this. Good luck! (which car?)

Hi Thomas,

No car yet :) But since the number of NSX's in Europe is very limited the chances that I will be getting a Acura are growing

Hi Nuno,

Do you know if the Odometer works correctly when you do a swap.
I have a very nice 320 kp/h cluster from my previous NSX and liked that one very much.

Hi Maarten,

as I've recommended to you some time ago. :D

Good luck!

Are there many Acuras in Europe? Mine is an Acura in US specs. I just posted on a thread about NSXs in Europe, but I would be curious how many are JDM or Acuras.

With the military, we do not have to convert as long as a vehicle passes all safety/emission standards. Before I leave Germany late next year or early 2011, I will probably sell my vehicle here if there are any Europeans willing to buy US spec.

I don't see any problem unless you've a red 91 which we have plenty of them. But I've read you have a long beach blue 02+, right? Maybe easier to sell. ;-) What did you do for conversion? Front lights? Speedo?

That is correct, LBBP all the way! I have seen two red '91s and a white NA1 (unknown year) in Europe so far. No LBBP yet. Mine is also supercharged w/ AEM FMS, which seems to be a rarity here.

I have done no conversion. It is 100% US spec. If I sold it, it would need to be converted, but it can remain US spec as long as I own it in Germany. I assume lights would be the primary conversion, but I have not looked into it heavily yet. Japanese cars are generally pretty easy to convert from what I've read. The speedo has both MPH and KPH.

Is this the one fritz/Heinz from Stuttgart drove in the passanger seat once? 02+ is correct, right? Put me on the list then. ;-)

Yes, I strongly believe the lights have to be converted to the EURO specs if sold to an other guy outside the military. Maybe the CTSC needs some adjustments to pass the tests (noise).

Yes, for a very short ride. They caught me on my way home from the Hockenheim Ring, so I stayed for a while to talked to them. I have done a poor job keeping in touch. I become so busy that I have remained relatively inactive on this forum and failed to keep in touch with them. I am going to try to spend a bit more time on forums now!

I will definitely be driving a lot around Europe come Spring and Summer; I am not trying to keep my car low-mileage! I would not be opposed to NSX meetings! I was also going to post on the Europe forum with questions about car shows in continental Europe (maybe I would be crazy enough to cross the Channel too). I am curious about entering car shows for the fun of it, not too seriously.

I am touching up the paint to correct minor shipping damage this winter (and will add a clear-bra 30-60 days after the paint dries). I will replace the wheels with silver 17/18 CE28Ns. I already upgraded the stereo to a double din unit, and added a separate navigation screen on the nav-pod. I installed a viper alarm/ keyless system. I would love to lower my car by 1" too, but that would destroy my front spoiler on a regular basis on these German roads. I am slowly working my way to having the perfect car! Hopefully there are car shows of some type to attend while also being able to have fun at Hockenheim and the Nurburgring (only 80 or so minutes from my house).

I do not mean to take the post off track, however. I have only heard of swapping the speedo, or simply applying a new face to the existing speedo written in KPH. I suppose a whole new dash is the only way to address the odometer? I am unfamiliar with the exact mechanism by which the odometer functions, so I cannot say about recalibrating it for a KM.
