Hey Guys,

Now that the weather is cooling down, here are some upcoming track events that I'm considering. I'd love some company out there. NoSx? Taj?

9/15 Motorsports Club @ Willow Springs
9/25 & 26 Redline/US Racing Club @ Spring Mountain (Pahrump)
10/1-10/3 Speedventures @ Buttonwillow
10/9 & 10 Racer Factory/US Racing Club @ Spring Mountain (Pahrump)
10/12 Gulstrand Motorsports @ Willow Springs
10/23 & 24 POC/US Racing Club @ Spring Mountain (Pahrump)

Ry,

See you next week at the Redline event. I just signed up with Speedventures at Button for the following weekend as well. I'll bring my wife so make sure your GF comes along so we can cruise over to the strip after hours.

I'll be at Willow Springs on 9-25 and Spring Mountain on 9-26. See you guys there.
FYI I don't think that's a Redline event at Spring Mt. on Sunday, it's more like a Grand Opening for the new owners.

Hey Mark, all-

Although it's a bit early to plan this far ahead at the moment, Ive been trying to get some of the old gang together for the TCRA 12/4 event at Willow Springs:

The racing season keeps me busy until the end of October. Nov at Pahrump sounds like a possibility, but Dec at Willow Springs is perfect- nice and cool, and not too far a drive for everyone.

-Marc

I have been looking forward to go back to Pahrump on 11/20.

Since I've always been wanting to get on Big Willow, I'll go unless some family event happens that day. Other wise, I look forward to it. Marc, are you still thinking about a NSX run group? I think it'll be fun to get more people off the fence.

Marc, have you thought of conducting a 4 session prep talk to any NSXCA members that are interested in attending the 12/4 track event. That'll be a good way to get people to become members and experience some safe driving on the track.

Marc-
This sounds excellent. The only thing that will keep me away is if I'm in Vegas working on the Billboard awards. I'll start checking the schedule now.

Mark is right. Redline is on 9-25 only. 9-26 is Spring Mountain Motorsports Ranch grand opening.

Re: Dec 4 at Willow Springs

Mark & Chris –

Glad to see you guys have the date penciled in. Ross, Greg Strang, and I ran this date last year, and we all had a lot of fun. Big Willow, if you have never run it before, will really scare you at first, then you will love it after a few laps, not very technical, but lots of fun. You should be able to do about 120 to 130 MPH through turn 8 in a stock NSX. That will totally blow your mind the first time you do it!

Thinking about the private run group idea more, it will probably be really tough to have our own group by trying ourselves to herd the cats all in a row here ;) There would have to be probably something like 10 or 12 cars (im guessing) all at the same or pretty close to the same skill level for an outfit like TCRA to give us our own group based on individually-booked group signups. Seems something like that has a very slim chance of working out.

On the other hand, maybe the NSXCA can pre-negotiate a run group with TCRA, and then “re-sell” the slots to members. I don’t know if that’s ever been done before, but it seems like a good step to take before committing to an entire track rental, if that’s something the region ever wants to do one of these days. We can probably set up our own rules and instructors for this group. Depending on interest, it can be a newbie or intermediate paced run group. I still don’t think that there are enough hard core track junkies in the club to make their own advanced NSX-only run group. Id be happy to make a presentation at one of the dinner meetings to try to drum up interest once we have a definite slot.

“Plan B” of course is to simply put the word out there to your buddies, and see who shows up, and just have fun out there.

Either way is great with me, It just seems as though there is a pool of real diving enthusiasts out there in the club who may have enjoyed the autocrosses and canyon drives, but never took their cars to the track, which is really the ultimate rush in a car like the NSX, that’s what the car was really built for. I know how you guys got hooked on it! ;)

Just throwing some ideas out there. Im planning on being there 12/4 regardless, and if worse comes to worse, we can all hang out with each other and enjoy the day. Ill bring my little 110 hp racecar so that the Vipers, Porsche Turbos, and Z06’s can blow by me on the front straight! :)

If we can get a bunch of us to all show up one way or another, then the more the merrier!

Last time I ran with TCRA in late may at Big Willow, they had an all Subaru run group. Just like you have stated, the Subaru club pre-negotiated an all Subaru run group well in advance. The group appeared to have between 20 and 30 cars. It was fun to watch and everyone in the TCRA club was cool and supportive. I'm running with TCRA this Saturday. Do you want me to check into the possiblity of an all NSX run group for those December dates? I can at least get a feel for the amount of cars required.

Yes, definately! I think that TCRA is one of the better open track day organizers in town, and they would be one of my top choices to host our run group. If we can get a deal worked out, we would next have to talk to our club leaders to get some cash to book the thing...with almost 2 1/2 months before the proposed date, this may work out after all! :D

Marc-
I've had excellent experiences with TCRA too! I will find the main organizer on Saturday and get as much info as I can. You should come and run too. I think there is still space available.

Is the Willow event confirmed for 12/4? I know you were originally thinking either 12/4 or 12/5. I have a kart race on 12/4, but I could make 12/5 for whatever that is worth.

Mark, Ry, Mitch and Andy,

I've already signed up for both Spring Mountain Redline and US Racing Club on Sept 25 and 26, and Buttonwillow Speedventures on Oct 2 and 3.

See you at the tracks.
