Hey everyone!

I recently just purchased a Blk/Blk '92 NSX, I love it to death. It's bone stock, and I would like some advice on modifications, but nothing too extreme. I plan to stay away from engine performance modifications initially... I'm really interested in lowering the vehicle and increasing the visual appeal, 1.5"-2", and I have a Comptech distributor less than an hour away. I want to do what I can with regard to springs/shocks, sway bars, camber problems from lowering, and maybe a short shifter to begin with. Comptech has all of these things, should I go with Comptech? Thanks everyone, any and ALL tips are certainly welcome...I really want to get off on the right foot with my new NSX, and I plan to follow anything I find here diligently, you guys rule!

Here's a direct link to Comptechs suspension page

Welcome to the forum. NSX is one of the best sportscar ever made. If you plan to lower the car you could go for Bilstein shock absorber and still use the original spring just on the lower setting of height. The ride would still be comfortable from what I've read on this forum. About the camber setting there one still under development also in this forum. Not sure about what Comptech is saying about this one.

"One change which we highly recommend to any NSX owner is our Competition Non-Compliance Rear Beam and Non-Compliance Toe Link Kit. This Eliminates the possibility of any changes in DYNAMIC toe and camber settings, and dollar-for-dollar is one of the best suspension upgrades available. This upgrade is a must for any NSX which is being track driven, and will make a considerable improvement in street driven NSX's as well."

LogicBomb, The Bilstien's with stock springs installed on lower perch are a nice upgrade, with good, firm ride quality, and lowered looks that I find about optimal, considering driveways, suspension adjustment limits, etc. You can get all four from NOPI for under $500. shipped, and install yourself if you like such projects. I'm real happy with how mine drives, and $500. not bad. Tom

Hei, and welcome! If you are intersted in tracking the car, then the previous suggestions are top notch. If you just want a lowered look, but for less money, and the ability to adjust the height to your desired preference while utilising the stock shocks, then MJ with DALI sales a great mod for that. It is the Dali Coilover Kit, and can be found on his website at....

That link is to the shock and coilover combo, but the option for just to coilovers (spring perch & treaded sleave) is there as well.

The Coilover Kit is the culminition of my original deisign from the 90's, to allow people to have the option of continuing with stock shocks, but have the height adjustable option as well. This keeps the prices down, and allows you to set the ride height (not toooooo low) so that the camber mod is not a required mod as well.

Of course, if you like, they can also be combined with aftermarket shocks and/or used for advanced purposes like corner balancing, if you choose to go to the performance extreme later.

Good luck!

Since you just bought the car, I would suggest you live with it as is for a few months, before making any modifications. You might decide to make different changes from what you're thinking now. (I'm not implying that there is anything wrong with what you're thinking, only that getting better familiarity with the car can be beneficial.)

Wow, I actually agree with Ken on this one....hummm, seems this global warming is getting to me?!? :) JK Ken. ;)

Tires = #1 upgrade.
If you're not running max performance summer tires, that is a HUGE differance.

Good luck!

The coilovers from Dali are for use on Bilsteins only, not stock shocks

If you are going to the effort of pulling the suspension apart I would change your shocks now otherwise you will be doing it later at additional labor cost..unless you do your own work then it will just be additional sweat equity:wink:

I have bilsteins shocks and dali springs, similar to eibach's with a stiffer finishing rate. Of course as it has been suggested you could lower on the Bilsteins, 7/8" using the lower perch and the stock spring or you could get a custom groove cut in the bilsteins to go lower and use the stock spring.

Yep, all that is true. The main advantage to the height adjustable sleve is that it allows one freedom of choice to not only ride height, but the ability to choose from a list of like a half dozen additional different spring options, if one decides to move away from the stock springs. So, no need to get a new ring cut in the shock body....just spin the adjuster.

Good luck!

PS - If value for the buck is a concern, there is almost always multiple suspension sets to choose from in the used market. These often come with everything one could want, and price varies from low to moderately high for the top end stuff.....but you still save money over the base price.

I agree. Bilstein shocks with OEM springs on the lower perch are great. I wouldn't want to go any lower.
