How many of you had to replace a foggy rearview mirror?

I'm about to put a 4th mirror in. Any one have success in a mirror from another Acura model?

My mirror is definitely foggy. In fact the epoxy shows through the mirror in some spots. I think the heat in Las Vegas is what caused it to happen to mine. But you're not the only one with this problem!

My rear view mirror has similar problems. It appears to me that the rear view mirror from an Acura Legend of the same year range as the NSX would be a direct fit. The mounting shaft appears similar, at least visually, although I have not seen one up close, but have only looked at pictures of rear view mirrors for sale on Ebay. I actually bought one off Ebay a coupla years ago to try but the kid never sent it to me, and kept my money. It was pretty cheap, like $12 for mirror and shipping. I actually "caught up" with the same kid online on AOL, and gave him some heat about it. He acted real nervous and apologetic, like he was 13 years old or something.

I had been driving a new Acura TSX as a loaner recently. It had the automatic dimming mirror, which I found very annoying. It wouldn't dim enough. A Thunderbird I drove a few years ago had an automatic dimming mirror that seemed to dim more. I would rather just flip up the mirror manually.

Anyone ever try to replace just the body of the mirror and not the shaft?
ie, attach a replacement mirror body to the existing shaft.

Okay, finally took my own advice again  and purchased ($25) a used but excellent rear view mirror from a '91-'95 Acura Legend to try. After looking at a lot of Honda/Acura mirrors this was the only one I was able to identify that has the correct mounting shaft. Upon comparison to the original mirror, the mounting shaft appears identical to the NSX shaft, but the mirror itself is about an inch wider, maybe just slightly taller, and the mirror housing is thicker.

I will install it and report back on my findings.

Okay, just installed the Legend mirror - I can now confirm that a mirror from a '91-'95 Acura Legend is a direct bolt-in replacement. It is definitely in a lot nicer condition than my old mirror. The Legend mirror is about an inch wider, but not excessively wide, so it improves your view toward the rear. Other than that it is very similar to the oem mirror and once installed fits well ergonomically and the stock Acura look and finish blend right in with the stock interior. It has the same flip-up feature as the original mirror. I think the Legend mirror represents a minor but worthwhile "upgrade".

I also spent some time adjusting my side mirrors out, after having recently read a discussion about proper side mirror adjustment. If you haven't given this topic much thought, you might be surprised to learn that you probably don't have your side mirrors adjusted out far enough.

You're right about this. Conventional wisdom has been to use the edge of the rear fender as a guide to aim the driver's side mirror, when, in fact, your driver's side blind spot can be completely eliminated by aiming that mirror outward to the point where that mirror begins to pick up cars that are driving past you in the left lane just as they leave your vision in the center rear-view mirror.

I have been using this technique for a couple years now and I am surprised at how well it works and how few people use it. It takes some getting used to (like maybe a minute or two) but it is a safer mirror set-up by far.
