First of all, as I recall, you're the one who admitted being cheap and referred to yourself using that term.


Second, I think there's a right way to do repairs, and a wrong way to do repairs.  The right way is to do a repair so that the quality of the looks and functionality are as good as the original.  The wrong way is to cut corners to save money, and to have something that looks like crap or works like crap.  Sometimes there are ways to save money and still fix things the right way (such as installing $16 window fix-it thingies instead of a $350 regulator).  But other times people think they're saving money and they're either doing it in a way that it will just fail again, or they deny to themselves that it looks like crap.


If gluing it works for you, fine.
