Has anyone installed subs behind the seats. I'm looking into installing 1 8" kicker behind each seat. I measured the space behind my seat positioned to where I'd be comfortable. There is room for a box 14" wide x 26" high 5" deep at the bottom and 4" deep at the top. I'd put the sub at the bottem and my amps at the top.

Just wanted to know if this will work. The kickers require 4.5" for mounting depth and a min of .33 cu ft of volume to sound right.

Can anyone post pics. Robr you had mentioned installing a box behind the seat.

Thanks

I have a sub box mounted behind my driver's seat, it was already installed when I bought it. I am only 5'6" so is not a big deal for me personally but I was concerned about when it is being serviced etc, which I noticed when I got it smogged last week, that someone might try to run the seat too far back.
So, I spent an afternoon on Sunday attempting to relocate it to the passenger side, then discovered after I had it positioned back there, that there is a lot less footwell space on the pass side, making it uncomfortable, even for me, with the seat ran forward to acommodate it. So, I put it back again!
I will measure the dimensions this evening & post them, but it essentially fills the space from the floor to the bolster and is the exact width of the removable trim panel.

p.s. remember that you also have to allow some additional between the speaker face & your seat, not like you can run it flush up against it!

my sub box is TINY, its about 12"x12"x3" with one illusion audio 10" sub. i happened to create it with a small 1" lip on the bottom (for other purposes) but it works to just tuck the lip into my dali harness bar to hold it in place.

12"x12"x3" what is the mounting depth of the illusion audio sub. (2") How does it sound in the car. I'm not going for shaking bass just a nice clear crisp sound for my DVD system.

Thanks for the feedback guys.

wish i could tell you, but im having huge issues with the amp shutting down when i hook up the sub (see another thread for the details). right now just two amp channels are working, so no sub

. i dont expect it to break any records, just to be solid bass that mixes well with the mids/highs.
