Stupid shifter question

Here is my delimma. I have a faux CF shift knob that I like because it compliments the other bits of CF I have in the car. It is contoured a little forward to fit your hand a little better. It also has the shift pattern, like you need it, imprinted on the top.
My problem is that when it is screwed all the way down on the shift lever it isn't lining up straight but rather almost 90-180 degrees from facing forward.
I was wondering if it would be detrimental to remove it and apply a little blue loctite to keep it in place and facing the proper direction.
I'm thinking of getting the SOS short shifter soon anyway so I don't know whether to just get a new knob that is totally round or work with what I currently have since I like it.
Any thoughts?

I have the same problem with mine and for some reason, it really bothers me. I am going to try to stuff something (I dont know what yet) inside the shifter knob in hopes that it will then line up properly. After I do it, I will let you know if it works.

I guess that would work. However it would still twist in your hand though wouldn't it? Even if it is wound clockwise as far as it could go with the restriction involved it could still turn counter clockwise.

I had a similar problem and screwed on a nut to the shaft to align the knob correctly. I moved the nut slightly up/down until my knob and shift pattern were facing forward. With the "locking nut" and some loctite, I've managed to mitigate the counter-clockwise issue. Depending on the application, the knob may sit a bit higher with the nut.

The only knobs I've found that help minimize the counter-clockwise issue are those that use the OEM boot clip.

So you have a visible nut below the shift knob? Did you attach the knob to the nut somehow? I'm just trying to picture in my mind your description.

I wish I had a pic for you, but basically the nut sat unexposed underneath my non-OEM boot. The boot was sandwiched between the nut and the knob.

Ok, I understand. That is what I was picturing but thought that would look kinda funny having the nut exposed.

I managed to find a pic.
The nut is inside the boot. A side bonus is that the nut helps to hold the boot in place.
