Strange pad wear on rear brakes

I'm changing out the stock brake pads to go to the track on Friday. For some reason, the inner pads in the rear are wearing really strange on both sides of the car. I can try and post a picture but will try and explain.

The inner pad appears only to be contacting the rotor on the outside, the end of the pad that faces the front of the car, the longer side of the pad. The pads are thick at the inside but real narrow at the outside. The wear on the outer pads is perfectly even.

How is it possible that the pad is pushing unevenly against the rotor? Can the pistons be cocked somehow? Can the guide somehow be crooked? The rotors and calipers appear to be perfectly normal. Please help!
