1) jack up the car at the proper points and use jack stands to support the car.

2) unbolt the wheel

3) unbolt the caliper bolts on the back side of the control arms.

4) using an impact screw driver, loosen and remove the phillip head screws that mount the rotor.

6) mount the Stoptech caliper bracket to where the factory caliper is located.

***remember to use locktite on ALL brake bolts for safety***

7) mount the provided stainless steel brake line to the back of the new caliper. (I found that the brake line works the best with the line directed upward toward the top of the caliper. It makes it easier to route the line when finished)

8) clean the new rotor surface with a scrub pad using soap to remove the rust inhibitor.

9) mount the new rotor to the hub using the phillips screws and impact screw driver.

10) install the brake pads into the calipers.

11) mount the caliper onto the caliper brackets.

12) install the bridge for the brake pads.

NOTE: this step is semi-difficult due to the pressure that the bridge puts on the pads. install the top bolt first, then using a rubber mallet, lightly tap the bridge while guiding the second bolt in. (I used a c-clamp and cardboard to keep from scratching the caliper paint, to completely close the brake pad bridge)

13) un-hook the stock brake line from the car.

14) install the other end of the new stainless steel brake line.

15) install the brakes on the other side.

16) bleed the brakes.

17) drive easy for a few miles or so, then bed them in properly.

ok, so maybe the brakes didn't get as much attention as some other things on the car.... LIKE GIRLS!!!

or the professional film crew that followed them.

So how does it work so far? I'm guessing you only did the front. Is it really worth it to just do the fronts??

I ordered the full front & rear Stoptech Kit, but only the fronts have been released to date...

I haven't had a chance to REALLY drive the car hard, but from the limited time I've had the kit on...I can definitely tell the difference.

my car was having terrible brake fade from high speeds. I've done a few 110mph - 40mph hard braking and it feels solid even when it's at 40 mph when I let off. The tires are at the point of lock up with no issues. I love the brakes for added safety.

for those who are curious as to what I was running before the conversion:

-dali deflectors
-carbo-tech panther plus pads
-trimmed dust shields
-Motul RBF 600 brake fluid

this is for sure, one of my TOP 3 performance mods on the car.

Nice looking wheel-brake combo.I'm interrested to know if your cooling vanes in the rotors are oriented properly,ie scooping air like a water wheel.I ask this because the slots seem to be oriented opposite to what I' m used to.

from what I've been told (but I may be wrong), this is how the majority of brake rotor manufacturers design their rotors inconjunction with the veins, with the exception of Brembo. Who knows??? maybe it's just Stoptech...

the Stoptech rotors come specifically labeled as to what side they are for.

maybe someone else may be able to clarify the reasoning behind the change.

X-Tnsiv,

Great story and great pictures. I like all these DIY-writeups.
It gives me greater confidence knowing that somebody else did it him/herself also if I do things.
Have noticed that you are also using the TEIN-RA setup. What settings are you using ??

acutally, I have the Tein RE's. They are set at full soft in the front and 3 clicks in the rear.

I also have my comptech sway bars on full soft in front and full stiff in rear.

I'm still in my quest for less understeer without additional front camber.

During my Stoptech installation, I had the same thought and it was explained that that was the proper way to install them. My Powerslot rears and the Stoptech fronts have the slots going in opposite directions.

FWIW: So far, along with S0-3's and Cobalt GTR Spec V pads, the Stoptech system seems to provide much better braking force. Prior system was stock calipers, AeroRotors, Ferodo DS3000 pads, SS lines, Motul 600, and Ecsta V700 R compound tires. I bedded my pads and rotors in this last weekend and after a minute the rotors were cool enough to touch - kinda surprising.

Oh, and I have to agree. Their customer service has been outstanding.

It's nice that the kit includes steel flex lines for the front but it should include also steel flex lines for the back.... Also, are those calipers perhaps made by Brembo (or Movit) ?

cheers.
