Stop tech brake

Does anybody in the bay area have stop tech brakes on there car.
I would like to test fit in the front.....bill

Bill, talk to Shad about BBKs before deciding on your upgrade. Ask specifically about his opinion of the Stoptechs.

J

Bill- there are only a small handful of wheels that I know of that will clear the Stoptechs (Shad installed all four of mine). Pm me for that list.

Based on my research, Stoptech offers the best value in terms of brake balance and performance after the Brembo Indy which are twice as expensive. And we were pleasantly surprised how Stoptech stepped up to the plate with their service with our suggested improvement; they re-engineered their e-brake pursuant to our R&D with them! That is customer service that you can rarely find nowadays.

But as Larry noted, there are a few wheels that will clear the Stoptech "without" spacers. It also clears my 02+ OEM wheels with 15mm spacer.

Hrant,thank you for the imfo.

Sounds like Shad has something (not nice) to say about the Stoptech brakes.

Henry.

Well, "not nice" doesn't necessarily mean "bad". You just have to know what you're getting. Everyone has their own set of priorities and compromises. I just wasn't sure if Bill had talked to Shad yet about the ST BBK and I know Bill trusts Shad's advice.

James, I think your info is from several moons ago

Yes, it is best to call Shad and see what he thinks now. I am very happy with the set I have, in fact thinking of even going down a step in track pad coefficient of friction (from XP10 to XP8) given its performance. And as I noted, their customer service has been top notch; and Rylan is now using their brakes for his S2000 dedicated track car.

I had talked to Shad about BBKs months ago. As I recall, he didn't really have anything negative to say about the StopTech BBK. At that time StopTech was having issues with their e-brake, which apparently has been resolved.

Shad mentioned that Brembo has the Gran Turismo BBK, which is in the same price range as the StopTechs. Of course, the Brembo Indy BBK is about twice the price... but that's the set up on Kip's NSX race car

Mike

I love my Stoptech's and the ability to interchange brake pads at the track in under 15 mins. If I could, I would install them on all of my cars:biggrin:

I wish my Advans would clear the ST BBK.

Hey Larry, do you want to sponsor my NSX for BBK and Recaro's?
I'll rock your business on the windshield.

No probem Mike- but are you sure you want to rock all that red on your beautiful Silver Type-RRR ?

Hey Mike, good to see you resurface for air and not to mention post on Prime

Yes the Gran Turismo is in the same price range - depending where you buy them from, but IMHO, the Stoptech is superior to the GT

My convo with Shad was from around January this year. He noted installation/fitment issues. He never said anything "bad" about their performance once installed, but neither did he have anything "good" to say about them. Meanwhile, he *did* have positive things to say about the Brembo GT and nothing bad to say about them, though he did note their cost disadvantage.

Please don't read too much into these statements. Not saying something bad about something doesn't mean there's nothing bad to be said. The corollary to this is that because nothing good was said about something doesn't mean there's nothing good to be said about it.

I do know that as of last May, Shad continued to push Brembo over Stoptech to me when I revisited the topic from last January. He didn't mention the same fitment issues from before. But he didn't say they were fixed either.

For those of you reading my posts (I'm surprised anyone does), don't read between the lines. I try to choose my words for their meaning, not their implications.

Larry,

Thanks for the sponsorship... As far as the red goes... both Stop Tech and Recaro's come in black, which goes real well with silver

Alright.... fair enough :)

If $$$ is not an issue, I'll go for the Brembo Indy's. The only reason I'm contemplating Stoptech is the price difference. For my application, only a few casual track days a year, Stoptech seems to fit the bill.

Henry.
