I know that the stock front 15" 5 spoke rim from early model cars will not fit a 97+ for the fronts according to the faq. However, will the rear 16" wheel fit on the rear of a 97+? Will it clear the brakes?

I don't know why it shouldn't.
But then again why would you want to know about just the rear's?
If the fronts don't fit you probably don't want to use the '91 spec rear's and '95+ spec fronts..that would look kinda weird.
