Accelerating from the busstop to La source, braking hard, to keep up with the Porsche in front of me.....80Mph.....DANG!!!! NO BRAKES!!!! Sound of metal!!!...WTF???
Tire blown?

I managed to stop the car without any damage (those runouts are much better now then the gravel they had before). Walked around the car. Nothing. Drove into the pits, took the right front wheel of, and there it was.....

The disc just broke off, and left the center on the car.

Took the disc off, and put a piece of wood inbetween the brakepads, secured with some tye wraps. Managed to drive home to Holland.

I'll have to go now with a different brakekit, coz i will never trust those stock rotors again.

(thankx to Gerard for the help. To bad i couldn't help him when he stranded)

Mmmmmmm...... AP or Brembo ........

Never had a problem with the OEM rotors, BUT I lost my left front brake caliper doing 195km/h on the German Autobahn

The bolts just somehow unscrewed themselves... The 2 bolts just weren't there ! No damage to the metal in the caliper or any sign of material wear.
(I was on the way to Mov'it in south Germany to have a Porsche 330mm front kit fitted, and they thought the lack of "lock tight"-compound on the bolts caused the near fatal incident.

The Porsche brake kit did not fit under my 3-piece front rims.

I installed SoS AP Racing kit a few weeks ago, and am very satisfied

Highly recommended mod.

You were very very lucky to not wreck your NSX !

Or maybe TAROX ?

I've looked at some options. I'm leaning towards the AP-BBK from Chris, coz you get a complete set, including the rear, which you realy need. The front upgrading alone will cause trouble due to brake unbalance.

I think i have quiet some options, since my wheels are offering me a lot of space.

Anyone heard anything from Andrea lately ???

Jeez, that rotor looks awful! Glad you came out of it alright.

Let's see, you've got either the Brembo Gran Turismo, AP Racing kit, and the Mov'it kit. Haven't heard too much about the Mov'it Porsche kit but have heard nothing but glowing things about the Brembo and AP kits.

Let us know which one you choose.

That's the second time I've heard of that happening. How old were the rotors? How many track events did you have on them?

Gerard van Santen has the Mov'it kit on his NSX, and all i can say is that the set will give you a headache after some good braking. Offcourse that is with some slicks on.

About one and a half years, still like new really.

I did one trackevent at Zandvoort in Holland, but never gave it a hard time, coz my brakes started fading.
Did some laps on Mgny cours in France, but had the same problem there (duh).
Now i have the Ferodo 2500 pads on (pretty good), but i was not running slicks. The S-03's where doing pretty well. This means that if i would have had slicks on, this could have happend earlier already, like at the end of the straight..... (200Kph + )

I saw the same thing a couple of years ago on a car at Acura of Brookfield. I don't have any details other then the car was tracked. I believe it also was a stock NSX rotor. I had never heard to that happening to a rotor before then.

Those big brake kits are a lot of money. Don't know if that is a big concern or not but I purchased Brembo "replacement" rotors in OEM sizes from Dali Racing.

I also upgraded to SuperBlue fluid, stainless lines, installed Dali big brake cooling deflectors, RM racing pads, and removed the rain shields.

I am VERY happy with my track and street braking performance. They do dust a little and squeel a little between washings - but a small price to pay for what I believe are the best brakes for the money.

Same thing happened to Jim Grinstead a while back at Thunderhill. I was in the car with him when it happened.

This is not just Acura specific. I heard same problem with some of the Mustang guys as well.
