Stock NSX cell phone removal

My 96 has the built in phone in the center armrest and it is taking away critical storage space.. I am not using the phone nor do I plan on having turned on since it is outdated and I have a much better (and smaller) Motorola cell phone which I carry..

Before I start trying to take it out, do you guys have any advice or comments on what to look for when removing it since I am sure someone did this before..

Also can the speakerphone setup be adapted to work with other portable cell phones?
