its 12:40 am and i am still at work. why you ask because someone did not read the rules and now we have to fix it. Well at least I have my NSX to keep me happy.

I have a question VampNSX - If you're working that late how come you're on Prime? ;) :D

I worked till 8pm tonight and thought I had something to complain about. Your post keeps things in perspective. thanx.

What's the longest hours anyone's worked? I've done a 8:30am-5:30am the following morning (21hrs) once. Needless to say I took the next day off. :)

lol @ netfreak's post. :D

funny you should mention...

Sunday, went to sleep at 4:00AM (dates on sunday, bad idea!)

Monday, went to work at 8am, and I was in the office till 2am. Today, I woke up at 6AM to come into work, and I'm pretty sure I'll be here till at least 3AM today.

and yup, I've done the 21+ hours straight, unfortunately, I can't take the next day off but I do get to come in closer to 10am =)

hehe, atleast you're getting paid :p

I PAY $15,000 a year to do 24-70 straight hours of work for projects here @ school.

I never believed the amount of work everyone said design schools are, well now i'm a firm believer, i can't wait to graduate and only work like 80 hours a week haha

But i wouldn't trade it for the world, just sticking my tongue out at you. haha

go grab some RedBull, and rewetting drops for your eyes, and you're golden

Kudos to you guys and gals that can work so diligently for such a long time. If I had 21 hours to do something, I'd be much more productive working 6 hours, going home for 9, then coming back for the last 6.

Vamp...

Quit your fussin and get back to work...I need that game finished so I can start playing it...geeeezzzz. Go outside and admire/get inspiration from your NSX and get back to it.... ANDA-LE...

:)

why is it considered NORMAL to work these kinds of hours in the game industry? I haven't seen the light of day in about a month now.

...but if you weren't stuck inside game coding or working, you'd still be inside in front of a monitor... j00 (r@zY 1337 h4x0R j00!!!! :D :D :D

Seriously though, 90% of excessive hours is due to POOR MANAGEMENT. Either management set unrealistic deadlines, have allowed insufficient flexi-time to sort out unexpected problems (which they possibly should have pre-empted!), or because they are too tight to hire that 1 extra developer the team needs. The other 10% is NSX Prime's fault. :D

hahahaa... ok, guilty. But, IF I had a girlfriend, she'd be pissed!

"Unrealistic deadlines" seem to be a way of life here.

Only 10% is NSXPrime's fault? I think that number is a little higher for me!

I'm an IT contractor, and almost always have a side project going on on top of my day contract - usually for some extra cash or to fill my time.

I've worked (and billed for, although more than one client) a 145 hour week in the past. I actually slept at the client's place for the two hours/night for a few days. The most I've worked consecutively is only around 42 hours (9am Day 1 - 3am Day 3) ...

In the past two months, I've been working almost every hour I can on a side venture that's very time critical. For about 6 weeks there, I'd work 18-21 hours every day, usually taking one day/week off. I work from home, so almost all the time is spent at the computer and not commuting, getting ready to go to work, etc.

I enjoy working, though. Usually the side projects or my own ventures interest me to the point where it's not really 'work' as much as it is the 'drive'.

It does tend to redefine "I'm busy".... On the flip side, I take 4-6 full weeks of vacation a year and leave it all behind- usually skiing, diving, or somewhere nice. Work hard, play hard...
