Stewart's accessment of current F1 Drivers

Re: Jackie Stewart's accessment of current F1 Drivers

I agree, Kimi looks like the man now. McLaren's got the fastest car this year, no doubt - but what Kimi's been able to do this year on heavy fuel loads has been absolutely amazing. Montoya's pretty fast but Kimi's really outclassed him this year everywhere. Plus I've seen Kimi make very few mistakes this year, something that even Alonso and Schmui has done more often than Kimi in 2005.

No doubt Kimi has the best car and is the dominant driver right now. But I don't think given equal equipment that he's better than Schumacher.

I know one thing: I'd hate to be Joan Paula Montoya. Knowing that I had equal equipment but was not even in the same ballpark, as far as outright speed in concerned, would be highly demoralizing. Same thing for Fishi...

Juan Pablo is right in the same ballpark.

He's had 2 wins this year, and a whole lotta badluck to go with it (as well as Kimi).

All odds nonwithstanding, I'd be hardpressed to pick either driver in a matchup. They'll both fight for position and be within 1% of each other's performance.

Juan Pablo is maybe more fun to watch.........he's the only guy I see get a F1 car "loose" and still be fast.

During the latter half of the last race, Kimi was more than a second faster each lap than Joan Paula. If you call that in "the same ballpark," then I don't think you what that phrase means. 1 sec is the difference b/t actually having a race driver and being a test driver.
