Stereo Knobs

Hi All,

I had some work done about a year ago on my AC and they replaced the head unit. The new unit has the black matte knobs.

My Stereo has the satin black knobs. This began to bother me so I decided to buy the four knobs for my stereo in the matte finish. This was about 6 months ago.

I recieved both the outer and inner knobs for the tuner side of the radio within a week after they were ordered. I recieved the outer knob for the volume control side about a week after that.

Here's where the fun starts... About a week after that, I got the inner knob for the volume control side and everything was correct except it had a different way of attaching than the old one. There was simply no way to use it on my stereo. The dealer examined it and stated it must have been a bad run of that part after verifying with the factory it was the correct part number.

Now I've been waiting six months and the dealer just stated to me that the knobs are no longer produced or available in the original style and that the one that came in they thought was wrong was actually the correct knob for the NSX stereo produced today and that in order to finish my knob upgrade I would need to buy a new head unit.

Now this sounds like a load of BS to me so I thought I would call on Prime to see if anyone knows of a change to the knobs (besides finish) from the 92 NSX to a 2000ish model year???

Also if anyone has the inner knob in the black matte finish available for sale, please PM me. :D

You could always just paint your original knobs. I painted mine with Krylon Fusion paint, although I am unsure whether they make black matte finish yet.

How did you avoid painting the white writing on the knobs?

I thought I would bump this since I have waited so long for a reply.

I'm still fighting with the dealer about that damn inner left knob on my stock stereo.. Maybe I'll cross post this in parts wanted and see if anyone has a nice one laying about?

It would probably be easiest and best to change out your climate control knobs and/or display component. A lot easier and cheaper ($40-$50 used) than what you are doing now...

It seems that Acura has started to discontinue older parts, especially ones that have a newer part that fit and functions, but not the same cosmetics.

So, folks, the time is now to start buying up (more likely _ordering up_) NOS parts for the NSX. They might be worth a fortune in the future...too bad dealerships don't stock parts en masse like they used to in the 1950/60's.

Thanks for the reply but its the "stereo" knobs. I bought all four, the two outer rings and the two inner buttons. All came in fine with the exception of the inner power on/off button.

I just find it very odd that they would discontinue "that" button and not the other three at the same time. According to Acura the other three are available and not discontinued.. Go figure!

I did get a few PM's and I thank those that took the time to send me some info. Hopefully this time next week I'll be fixed up with the proper part.
