I did some quick searches and found out how to remove the steering wheel so that part im okay, but there's these 3 star bolts in the steering wheel that is a pain to get out.

Does anyone know the best way to remove these? Any tip/tricks?

Much appreciated!

Jimmy

T30 star bit drive.

i got the one they sell at pepboyz.
it fits in my mini socket rachet and works great.

get the most expensive one you can find. those work best.

don't buy those cheap ones. they will strip the bolt.

happened to me when i used the cheap one and ended up having to drill out the stripped bolt.
Good LucK!

i went out and got the t30 bit but that thing still won't budge i manged to strip one of them :( in the process of drilling that one out... man this sucks lol

Be careful, those are the airbag bolts. Make sure you've disconnected the battery, unplugged the airbag, and put the red safety connector on before you mess with anything!

I've found that the Craftsman T30 socket works well. Available at any Sears store. Never stripped anything with that.

yea i read earlier on other threads and made sure i disconnected the battery for a good 20-30 mins then unplugged the airbag and put the red connector on it. unfortunately i stripped 2 of those stupid bolts :( i was able to get one off lol...now i need to find a drill to drill them out ...

I used a Craftsman T30 Screw Driver and attached a large adjustable wrench around the handle so that it gives you a 90* angle which gives great leverage and they turned right off.

Is there enough room to get a vise grip in there? That might be easier than drilling it out.

i think maybe a need nose vise grip would fit but a regular size one won't im at work right now im gonna look in the shop to see if maybe they have one i can borrow. either that or drill a hole and use a bolt extractor.

I am having a problem trying to figure out how to do the wiring that comes with the NRG quick release system. Can anyone help?

The NRG quick release I got from SOS came with 3 sets of wires, one red, one black, and one set of orange wires connect at one end by a plastic cap. These wires are packaged in a seperate plastic bag.

The quick release came with a set of wires, one black and one yellow, at either end of the release.

The Momo steering wheel has two wires for the horn button. I assume they connect to the yellow and black wires on the NRG.

These are the wires I have. What do I do with them?

Thanks for any advice.

oooh. dont use the first link to do your NRG quick release.
thats only for momo type hubs that have copper disks.

the NRG NSX hub retains the steering SRS reel and cable so you can use the horn and cruise controls.

on the small yellow plug with 3 prongs, use one wire to connect pin number 1 and 3 together.
that is to turn off the SRS light on the dash cluster

ok. on the big yellow plug. theres pin 1 234.

pin 2 is for the horn.
splicing is involved here. take one of those little wires and splice it to the back side of the quick release.

theres a silver/gray gasket that needs to be connected to the other wire from the quick release side as well.

here's a lil pic with the cruise control buttons installed and spliced.
get the idea?

the only thing i forgot in the pic is to pug in the silver/gray metal gasket looking thingie. that is essential to making the horn and NOS buttons to work.
it goes in between the quick release back side and the NRG NSX HUB.

good luck.
i'll have better install pics the next time i do a local install.
all my kits i send out are pre-wired. given the buyer doesnt rush my delivery, i send out bolt on,plug n play kits.

Erick, thanks for chiming in! that picture you posted was exactly what iwas trying to look for but i didnt know the url address lol.

I am getting ready to install the quick release.
I am still a little confused. Where do the gray metal gaskets go? Does the piece on the gasket that sticks out get in the way of the horn botton installation?
The Momo steering wheel comes with two metal rings and a 'C" shaped wire. What do I use to install the horn botton?

Thanks for the help.

i think i know what your reffering to but just to be sure can you take some pics of the pieces you're asking about? this way i know i give you the right answer.

Let me try to post some pictures to clarify.

The above are the rings that came with the Steering wheel.

This is the ring with the hub and quick release. There are two of them.

The gray piece gets in the way of the horn button. What is it for? IS it for the ground connection?

Thanks for the help.

The T30 bolt slips too easily. I went to sears and pick up the bit and only managed to remove one and the other 2 slip.

Vise Grip is definetly the answer, instead of drilling and have metal dust all over.

Question on the wiring: for the 1 234 connector, is 2 the ground wire? where can connect the ground?
