I've driven many cars in my life, but almost all new cars seem to have very big heavy steering wheels due to the embedded airbag. I modified my NSX with an Apache steering wheel last year, but the steering wheel feels somewhat awkward in my hand. The steering wheel looks really cool, but I'm not convinced that it is the best design for the NSX for heavy track use. I'm curious to know how many of you who have done the steering wheel mod feel about your wheel. I have a small Grant steering wheel on my 87 MR2 which feels really good and matches the car really well. I think the NSX has a slightly slow initial response, so having a wheel that feels comfortable at 1/2 rotation is necessary. I'm also not convinced that steering wheels that are slightly cut out are that good for our cars either. In any case, I'm curious what your opinions are.

Currently, I'm debating on picking up a Sparco Ring steering wheel as a replacement.

I'm with you kenji,I've got the mugen wheel and love the feel and grip contour. It is about the same size diameter as stock but is thicker all around. The horn buttons are not idealy placed though they are mounted off the center hub and not on the thumb grip.

Since the NSX steering is unassisted and have a relatively slow ratio, you don't want to use a wheel that is too small. Because smaller wheels gives less rotational torque making the steering less responsive and dull. I would say a 330mm is the smallest wheel one should get for the NSX--which is what I have.

I have a Sparco steering wheel - 330mm

It's the large one on the left. I got it in read and black and also got their red and black shift knob.

I love it because it looks great and I no longer feel like I'm driving a bus.

I have done the wheel mod and am very pleased with the response of my momo corse 80.I believe its a 330.as far as cruise you can retain one horn button with mine for horn or nos and the other cruise set.you can take it a step further and get a ring adapter with two added buttons for cruise set, resume.its placed between the hub and wheel

I agree with everyone here, The steering wheel is a must!!! Any sparco or Momo will make such a differnece in just plain driving enjoyment. Makes me feel like I'm driving a video game or go-kart..

Do you have pics of that red and black wheel? I always wanted one with red inserts, I was looking for a Momo Top power as well, right now I've got a Momo Race one.

I dont have CC, I dont really care, I never would use it anyway.

Where did you get the CF button holder for the MOMO?

My self and another guy designed the button holder and had it made. Dali is now selling them.

I've used quite a few. The one I keep going back to for street/track use is the Sparco Ring in leather. I have tried the alcantera (suede) but find it uncomfortable for the street. The leather on this wheel is high grip and not slippery. I have installed buttons on the wheel for horn & cruise. The bottom cut-out makes entry and exit easy, especially with high bolster seats like the SPGs in the NSX and S2000. You can see a picture on the S2000 here...
