Steering Rack Replacement

Hi,

I would like to replace the EPS Steering rack on my Right Hand Drive 1993 Coupe and have 2 questions.

1. Is the later EPS steering rack with the larger motor interchangeable with the old version that came with my car?

2. Does anybody know where I can refurbish the old rack? I understand that the EPS rack is quite expensive, and would like to keep the old rack as a spare.

This is a tough question, since you are not in the US market(at least for me). The newer EPS System (1997+ in the US) is not compatible with the older one.

As far as I understand , U cannot refurbish the steering rack of our EPS. I have a 91 auto and replaced the computer once and using a replacement rack that was passed along by a fellow NSXer who installed a new one years ago. It still make noise sometime. A new unit in RHD is about HK$ 40k which is about US$ 5k and parts may require months to source from Honda. They are avaliable on order basis only from the HK dealer. Next to the gearbox, its the single most $$ item on keeping our young NSX running.:wink:
