:confused:Hi guys,I am having a steering problem with my 95 plate auto.Seems to have excessive play when turning wheels.Could it be tie rods need replacing ?Any help would be much appreciated.

Jack up the front, grab the tire at the 9 and 3 o'clock positions. If you can wiggle the tire pushing straight in and out, you most likely have a bad tie rod end(s). There are more exacting tests, but that's step 1.

In 2009 I discovered a cracked boot on a tie rod end on my 1996 NSX, fortunately before contaminants got inside. But, had that gone unnoticed, that tie rod end would have been gone in a short time.

If that above seems in good order, check the universal joint in the car at the steering wheel/steering rack assemble. I had excess play too and it turned out to be just a loose universal joint

Thankyou,

Changed tie rod and steering better but can here knocking sound when car is on ramp and steering is turned.Any idea what that is ??

Does it knock with each rotation of the steering wheel? And you can kinds feel it in the wheel as well as hear it? If so you have the exact same problem as I do. Steering rack internal bearing is bad. Two options. #1 go to friendly Acura dealer and drop something like $7k for a new rack. Option #2, which I am choosing, is to remove your rack and send to Primer D1 guy who can fix your rack for a small percentage of replacement. I mail mine to him tomorrow.
