Steering hub options?

I'd like to update a well worn OEM steering wheel on my 91. I don't need a quick release, just something to bolt a standard momo or other aftermarket wheel up to.

I've noticed that the steering wheel hubs for the NSX seem to run $190-350 for just a basic adaptor plate. Unless there is some sort of NSX specific complexity that I'm not aware of, that seems pretty steep for what seems to be just a spacer plate. I can get a genuine momo hub for every other car known to man for about $50-70 off ebay, it just seems odd to have to pay five times that amount for the NSX...

Is this really the only option? Are there no other applications that share the same depth/spline count as the NSX?

The difference in pricing is due to the fact that most hubs for high production cars you see are cast then rough machined. The NSX market is too small to afford the tooling costs to make a cast hub. Thus, the hubs that you are likely looking at (like the example below) are machined billet aluminum and hand broached. Machining each one from a block of aluminum costs more - even in high quantities (we have to do a minimum of a 100 at a time to even get them done at any price). Here's an example:

Have you thought about reskinning your OEM steering wheel? Just a thought.

I'm with you on this too. I remember reading somewhere that the spline count is the same as certain other Honda/Acura vehicles. Just can't seem to find that info anywhere.

I recently bought the hub SOS is offering and really like it. It is fairly heavy which should dampin some of the feedback from the steering shaft. Just my .02.
