Alright guys as you can tell im not exactly a "new member"... But its finally become the time im seriously thinking of getting an NSX now. Currently I own 2 Integras, a turbo 99LS and a 94 GSR that I do a lot of shows with. I am tired of the theives and immature drivers associated with these cars so after detailing my former boss' NSX recently I was reminded of how much I would like to get into one.... Probably gonna sell/trade both cars and just get one that can do it all:smile:

I used to work at Mainstreet Autoworks Honda/Acura Independant service in monroe, WA... and quite a few NSX's pass through there so I am rather familiar with them and what i want. I just wish there were more and earlier blue ones!

I just have one thing i am curious about...

I checked insurance quotes on a 91 nsx a while ago and it was pretty much the same as my 94 Integra (LOL).... How much does the cost vary from say 91 to a 95 or 97?

Anyways, expect to see me around here posting a little more, im a huge post whore on team-integra.net so I could fast become addicted here

Hey man! Welcome. I pay similar insurance on both my '91 and '94 NSXs, and they are pretty much the same as my '96 Integra GS-R as well. Coming out of an Integra you will notice the corwd changes quite a bit from the Integra gangs....but I have a feeling you know that already. ;)

Just find a well cared for NSX....resist the urge to buy the cheapest one you can find, as those are typically dogged out. You want a well maintained car with the NSX, as you will end up paying later if you scrimp at the beginning. Good luck, man!

I'm surprised this car hasn't sold yet. It appears to be pristine, has had most of the major service done, priced perfectly and is the best year NSX to own. In fact my current car had exactly the same mileage when I bought her 2 1/2 years ago and is now flirting with 165,000 miles.

Belated welcome to the forum...

The NSX is certainly no more expensive to insure than my Integra Type R. Age; marital status; and driving history are actually more important than the vehicle being insured in many cases. I don't know if the insurance cost is much more for my '97 vs. a '91 though. I certainly agree with your color preference; I have a 1997 Monte Carlo Blue Pearl NSX T

Nonsense, we all know what they look like. In fact I'm pretty sure the ad that had the car I bought had no pic either. I just called the guy and said "I buy". Luckily I was the first one because he got several phone calls right after mine from people wanting the car, some offering more than asked. He was a stand up guy and honored his verbal commitment. 2 1/2 years and 94,000 miles later, Charlotte is still running and looking like a champ.

I've got a 95 GS-R and a 94 RS to keep our NSX company.

haha, i am just now realizing that... must be the 8k redline:rolleyes:

I had origionally planned on keeping the integra and adding an nsx... but Im not so sure i want to do that anymore as the integra isn't the best daily driver for me now.:frown:

Hello,

I'm also looking to buy an NSX (95-97). As part of my preparation process I asked for insurance pricing from my agent (All State). The annual cost for a 95/96 is $1,040. The cost for the 97 is $1,080. I forget my coverage facts (deductible), but other factors that figure into my quote is my age 55 and I live in Sierra Madre a suburb of LA.

Good Luck,

Mario

first off.. a NSX will lure in more thieves.. it's usually a garage kept car.. but it'll be something stolen for the joy of riding/racing one instead of get parts off from it cause no one has nsx that they can really sell it to..

Even it happens once a while, but the general public perceive the car as slow and with ok hp... thus making it less appeal to steal than say, a Ferrari, 911 or even a Z06 for joy ride sake.

I do agree parts weren't favorable to theives because of its demand. The other part is that nsx are put together a lot tighter and some parts are a lot harder to remove than a Honda civic. (It took me long time to swap my front bumper, to say it 10x harder is an underestimate.) This is also not a good thing for a chop shop.

So basically a decent 2 way pager alarm is all you need.

Theives should be one of the least thing you should worry; valet, jealous people, soccer moms and careless SUV drivers are more dangerous to nsx owners. and I'm speaking of experiences.

BTW, integrapunk, I'm in the market of getting a track car, when you decided, please let me know your rides first. Give me the first dib, I exchange it for a "ride" in mine or some personal tips. (like who to stay away from when dealing with nsx locally, I know so far the "only" crook in WA, all other nsx owners I had met are pretty cool and trustable)

One thing though, nsx seems to be extremely rare and expensive in WA, good thing that now we have a specialist/mechanic who also owned his nsx locally. When you found the nsx you like, you must bring it to him. You might have already know who I'm talking about since you were a member since 2004. ;)

Ferrand.

I have full coverage insurance on my 91 NSX and it is a few hundred dollars less than what I pay for my 2004 Jeep. I also suggest that you get your NSX appraised so that if something happens - you get a fair return.

.

the "general public" thinks it's slow:confused:

maybe young jealous punks in Evo's, but not average Joe...Every time I stop at a gas station or mini mart, someone will ask me how fast it is...I don't think they would ask that if they thought it was slow....

Insurance isn't bad untill you have to use it:frown: I was paying @ $900 a year until I spun out in the rain and smacked a curb($7000 suspension damage)...Now I'm paying over $2200 a year:eek:

Keep your record clean, and you'll be fine....a couple tickets or an accident and your not....

I've NEVER seen an NSX (or any other exotic-flame on) on the "stolen list". Thieves tend to go after cars for parts...you've been watching too many movies.
Most stolen cars 2004

Click for vehicle details and photos

1. 1995 Honda Civic

2. 1989 Toyota Camry*

3. 1991 Honda Accord

4. 1994 Dodge Caravan

5. 1994 Chevrolet Full Size C/K 1500 pick-up

6. 1997 Ford F150 pickup

7. 2003 Dodge Ram pick-up

8. 1990 Acura Integra

9. 1988 Toyota pick-up*

10. 1991 Nissan Sentra

^^^Tom, dont you think that that is because they're so few of them around?

If you charted by a % of that model on the road, the results may be different.

But I do agree that parts are a big factor, especially when you consider ITR engines.

I had a 1995 Integra GSR too, we must think a like.

I also owned 1997 and 98 Prelude, 2001 S2k, 1995 NSX, and currently 2006 S2k with my 03 NSX.

It is nice to have the S2k again. It is truely a fun car. NSX just make me smile every time I'm behind the wheel of it.

I agree with you on that one. Sadly to acquire an nsx i'll have to let go of my s2k. But i doubt it will be missed lol. At some point i'd like to get another one though..they are fun.
