94 would not stay cranked, finaly cranks go down the road and car quicks running get fired back up. Only stays running if you hold the key in just the right spot. What do you all think ? Starter switch, or the computer part behind the switch?
Your ignition switch needs to be replaced, eazy to replace. search the forum for DIY. Here is a picture and part number of one, I had too replace my friend's ignition switch last week.
The ignition switch is also very easy to disassemble and clean. It appears to be a "permanent" fix, i.e., it will last the same 16 years it did before -- until it gets dirty again.
Having problems getting the dash piece off, unscrewed the lower screws but dont know whats holding the top of it on. Am I just to push up and it comes off? I did not want to brake any thing.
If I recall correctly there are just some spring clips holding it on after you remove the screws. I recall having to pull down firmly along the edge and it came right off.
Been trying that with no luck afraid might break something any suggestions? On taking the panel off under the steering wheel to get the starter switch out.
There are 2 screws that remove the cover on the bottom. After that, disconnect the 7-P connector. Tilt the cover down and pull easy toward the floor. There are 2 plastic tabs holding the top up (no screws there) that you can break if not careful. Then turn the key to "0". Remove the two screws holding the switch in.
