Current situation:
If car is idle for 24 hours, at least the first attempt to start the car fails. Often when you turn the key, there is virtually no response as if the battery is totally dead. However the 2nd attempt is likely to result in a bit of engine cranking and usually by the 4th attempt the car seems to start. I thought that I had a parasitic drain problem but when I checked the battery this morning it showed over 12 volts, yet the car only started on the third attempt.
After driving the car for a short duration, there is never a problem restarting the car during that day. It starts immediately.

History:
There have been similar start-up issues for approx. 1 year. At first, it only occured if the car had been left sitting for a long duration but the issue became more frequent over time. The battery has been replaced very recently.
There was an episode when the car started shutting off unexpectedly and the main relay was replaced (to no avail) as the issue seemed to be resolved by removing and cleaning the ignition starter switch. The car no longer dies unexpectedly.

Has anyone experienced something similar? Thanks

Marc

Based on my description of the problem, a local tech with quite a bit of NSX experience seems to think that it is the contacts in the starter motor that are the culprit. He suggests that once the vehicle is warmed up, restarting it is no longer an issue. Does this diagnosis make sense?
If so, has anyone recently purchased a rebuild kit or is buying a new or remanufactured starter motor the way to go? How difficult is it to attempt to repair the solenoid or replace the motor in a 1991 NSX?
As usual, I would appreciate any constructive input.
