Starfish Wheels ?

Lemme ask: what's the difference between the 542 and 542R . I see that the 542 are avail. in 17" IS R=rear? Another question: how susceptible are these towards theft ?

The "R" series HRE wheels have what they call a "straight contour lip". On the standard 542 the lip of the wheel curves upwards.

They are very susceptible to theft unfortunately. They sell for roughly $1000 each. Make sure you photograph them for your insurance agent and keep a very hungry Rottweiler close to the car.

Wheel locks might deter an amateur but anyone can simply use a tool available at Sears to remove any lug nut. Locking or otherwise.

Here is the 542R

Geez Dawn you got over 50 replies and over 900 views for this thread. I never knew starfish wheels were so popular..... ......lol

LOL. I really appreciate all the help. I am REALLY in love with the HRE 542s! They're so slick! But way $$$$

You think those are expensive; just wait till you put your brand new HREs on and you realize the car sits too high for your wonderful new wheels and that you need a set of coilovers :D. That's gonna suck :D

Then you will realize that your car looks the part, but sounds like a Corolla. AIS and Exhaust please.

Then you'll go for a ride in a supercharged NSX. Game over at that point, you can get your new supercharger here.

It is a very slippery slope, but man, its sooooo worth it :D
