ABS pump kicking in? It's in that location & kicks in intermittently. Maybe drive slowly with hood up and have a friend walk along side. Obviously on very quiet road since you won't be able to see. Or just start car parked with hood up & listen. Try excercising the solenoids & see if it goes away. Find somewhere sandy & stomp on brakes to get ABS to engage. Search for ABS pump or excercise ABS or excercise solenoids in DIY or owners forum. Many threads on this.
