:o Hi, I was on my second day on changing my brakes ( rotors, pads and ss lines) For some reason the brake lines are the trickest for me to change, I procceed with a little swearing and finger crossing..

Until I got into the last line which is the one on my passenger side, the screw is seized totally and looks like it's already a little stripped. Then I thought I might use couple vise grip to remove it... Now I totally stripping the screw.

This is the biggest screw up I ever had... Does anybody had any idea of doing that?? I'm thinking to drive it to a local shop and seek for help.. But I was wondering if anyone can shed me some light on "HOW MUCH" this is going to cost me??

I guess I have no other way but to put on a new brake hard line from Acura, right??

I lost all the passion to touch my car totally.

Are you talking about the banjo bolt, the bolt at the fender or the bolt for the bracket? Did you try using liquid wrench? If you have a chance, post a picture. It shouldn't cost too much if there are no other damages. The shop deal with stripped nuts and bolts all the time. You should bring your brake line with you so that they can install it right after the stripped bolt is removed.

BTW use flare nut wrench for hydraulic lines.

Sorry to hear about your mishap.

Like BrianK said: a flare nut wrench is your tool of choice here. You're looking for a 10mm (i think) size.

Is it the front or rear passenger side?

Hi DanO, yeah it's the bolt that, on your website, TOLD ME DON'T STRIP!!! but it's was a little stripped to be started with, I guess some shop the previous owner took did something wrong before...

Oh well, I asked acura for the whole Front Passenger side hard lines, and it's only $49 something... but this time I guess I'll let a shop do that since I don't want to strip the bolt from the master cylinder... :o

Taj, thanks for your input too, I guess I'll do that before I order the line from Acura.

Those nuts are easy to strip. I like the idea of having the Acura dealership do the line replacement. In my book, working with brake lines is not happiness.

Good luck,

DanO

I can't agree more... It will be the first thing shown in my book too...

:o I have spent a whole night devoting that, all I got is a very tired body, sore back and unhappy/ upset mind....

I think you should add a link to your danOland.com.. SS Brake lines how-to: IN my book, working with brake lines is not happiness, GOOD LUCK working on your own...

Now I have to pay the shop to replace the hard lines from ABS unit to the SS lines... I could have easily spent less money just have the shop doing that brake lines part, but my thought process went Like " hmmm, if I have the shop changing lines, that means I have to bleed the brake again??"

I guess it was just like that famous reading as a man spent the whole day changing oil for his mercedes and all kinds of Chaos happened vs. his wife just dropped it off to jiffy lube and have a coffee!!!

:) hey, at least my car is still drivable now and even though I have to drive kind of slow, I'm still happy...

Hi Ferrand,

I feel your pain brother..........
I too get upset when I work on my car and things don't quite work out right. Sounds like we need to get together and have a beer (but no driving).

Best wishes,
Gene

Gene, after last Saturday, I just remember how nice to dirve in the "woods" with other nsx... Well, hopefully I'll fix all the brake lines by next meeting...

An nsx beer night? Sure!!@! We should have something like that... We should make it regular monthly, right in between the nsx Redmond meet... I rememeber there's some nsx'ers never make it to the meet cuz they have work on Sat. (well, i missed there for almost 5 months too.)
