i was just wondering if i can get suggestions on what kind of springs i should install on my nsx. i currently am riding on neuspeeds but the gap in the back is larger than the gap in the front, making the car look a bit unbalanced. any and all suggestions would be welcomed...thanks.

Are you installing for performance reasons or for appearance reasons?

How do you like the performance of the Neuspeed springs? How did you like the stock springs before you put those on?

H&R Srings are also like that too.... I had eibachs before and they look perfect on the car as far as the gap goes, but not as low. Another alternative is getting bilstein shocks and have bilstein machine more grooves into the shock and use a lower perch on the front. The bilstein already comes with a lower perch that lowers the car .8 inch, but .8 inch might be too much. You can have them machine a groove in bewteen so that it gives u a .4 inch drop in the front along with ur existing springs. Hope this helps.

I have H&R and they are just too low. Went to an NSX Ralleye this weekend and got a chance to compare. Go with Eibach. BUT, if you insist on H&R, I'll sell you mine!

Get coilovers from Dali, and you can probably use it with your Neuspeed springs, but double check on that one. At least with coilovers you can adjust the height front to rear so that they match/look the same.

I just installed eibachs in my car at Larrys shop and I was also going to change the shocks with bilstein, but larry talked me out of it. He said he's had more problems with bilsteins and never had problems with the oem. so I stuck with eibach and oem shocks. It definately makes the car look nice. I have 17/18 volk racing wheels that I just recieved and have yet to put them on but already I can tell its going to look stellar.

What tire size do you have in front. Perhaps it is to low in comparising to th rear?

A 225x35x17 makes a bigger gap than a 215x40x17.

Got a question for the people with the cars that have Oem shocks with eibach: Is the car bouncy? i.e is it "hugely" bouncier than stock?
Another question: is it a good idea to change a 10yr old shock with low mileage?

I also have the stock shocks and Eibachs. They do not feel softer at any speed, although I may have gotten used to it. I had installed Dali street bars when I swapped the springs, so that could have masked any additional "softness".

My 1991 has 33K miles with original shocks, and they are fine.

I beleive Ken (nsxtasy) had pointed out that he experienced, over some time, a degredation in his stock shocks, but at 33K I do not feel any yet.

I recall he is around 50K miles or so, but.... His primary use is track, and I am sure his shocks have been worked much harder then street driving

The gap is the same front and back. I'm running 225/40/17's and 285/30/18's which may be why it looks too low.

hpv100 and chudson, how is your eibach with stock springs? Is it bouncier at any particular speed than with stock springs?
any feedback would be appreciated!

smoothaccel,
I've had my eibach with oem for couple of weeks and the ride is nice, there is no bouncing, I think it is a great compromise for track and street use. I just put on some volk racing with 215/40/17 front and 275/35/18 rear and the car looks very nice. I think that the amount the eibach lowers your car is perfect.

Larry's recollection is correct.

Regarding the degradation, I did not perceive any "bounciness" in the ride. All I felt was a vague lack of precision. It just didn't seem to have the razor-sharp handling that it had when it was new, although there wasn't anything in particular that felt amiss.

The OEM shocks do not feel "bouncy" at all. If you feel bounciness in the OEM shocks (or any other shocks), you've gone way, way past the point at which you should have replaced them.

Vance,

I have had about 6 track days with the setup. Frankly, I feel at best I am driving the car about 6/10's at my experience level.

The car is tight and both my instructors were very impressed with the cars handling. One instructor last year, who was familiar with the NSX, said mine was setup nicely as it was. The car also had the Dali bars at that time.

I had the H&R coils, stock 15/16, and stock shocks for a couple of years and several track events.

Agree that it was way to low for everyday use and did not at all like the way the car performed over rough surfaces. Not a bounce so much as you could really tell the shocks were overmatched by the aggressiveness of the springs.

On the recommendation of Phil Mirenda / CGI Motorsports http://www.cgimotorsports.com I went with the non-adjustable Bilsteens and Eibachs. I have had them over 11k miles and love every one of them. Missouri roads are typically 47-48 out of the 50 states and I know many people who have bent rims on our roads. The bilsteens have performed admirably on the street/track and the combination is not much lower then stock.

Phil is one of those guys that tracks and understands everything about a solution before he sells it and I couldn't be happier.

Good luck.

Since we're talking different brands of springs, can anyone tell me the different amount of drop each brand lowers the car?? I'm looking for springs also. So far I've seen H&R/Eibach/Nuspeed mentioned here I'm also looking at RM racing. Any info will be much appreciated.
