There have been a few questions about spring/damper rates for both NA1 and NA2 models of the NSX lately, and I noticed that the newest HyperREV (2002 NSX-R Only Edition, on newestands now) listed them all including one or two that aren't in the FAQ yet:

2002 NSX JDM NA2 Type R
Front Damper Rate (kgf 0.3m/sec): 321,208
Rear Damper Rate (kgf 0.3m/sec): 338,244

SWAY BAR SIZES

1997 NSX JDM NA2 Type S
Front Spec: 18.3 x 3.0mm
Rear Spec: 19.1 x 3.0mm

1997 NSX JDM NA2 Type S Zero
Front Spec: 18.3 x 3.0mm
Rear Spec: 19.1 x 3.0mm

1993 NSX JDM NA1 Type R
Front Spec: 21.0 x 2.6mm
Rear Spec: 17.5 x 2.3mm

2002 NSX JDM NA2 Type R
Front Spec: 22.2 x 4.0mm
Rear Spec: 17.5 x 2.3mm

They didn't list sway bar sizes from the 96 NA1 car for whatever reason, but they did go into some fabulous detail regarding the new OEM gp pads/slotted rotors and other assorted new gear from Honda on the 2002 Type R, including factory test results and charts versus the previous family of NSXs in the areas of braking, handling, and acceleration. About 106 pages long, dealing completely with the stock R, no mods or tuners.

very nice data,I do think that the rates you have listed for damper rates are actualy the spring rates in kg/mm,they match those in the faq section.

Somebody please explain to me the second number in the swaybar section. I thought the stock bars were solid. Is this saying they are hollow?

yes the OEM swaybars are hollooooow (did you hear the echo?) and do almost nothing since their wall thickness is close to that of rice paper.

JMO.........on their performance.

I have been researching the same info for a while and it has been my understanding that these numbers are all for the coupe - even those for 97+ NA2 ..... do they mention T numbers? I even heard a rumor that the 2000+ T were even softer than 97+ .......

I haven't tried it, but I would bet you could bend an OEM swaybar in half pretty easily if you stepped on one end and lifted up on the other.

Hrant, I believe you are correct that those numbers are all for coupes. That is my undertsanding at least.

I also think it's interesting that the 1993 NSX-R and 1995 NSX-R seem to have some differences.

I'm working on updating the table in the FAQ right now.
