Looking for a diy for the spool valve. Mine is leaking on the rear driverside. not bad but enough to bother me. I have searched the site for a diy but no one has written it up as far as i can see. How many bolts hold it in and any speciality tools that would make it easier to remove. Any thing i need to be careful of. I have purchased the two filters (one external and one internal)and the one round donut gasket. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

3 10mm bolts on each spool valve.

you gota go get it the old fashioned way.

no special tools.

i usually go in with a 1/4 inch ratchet, about a 10-12inch extention and hit it from where i have room instead of trying to get at it with a 10mm stocket right off the ratchet.

Take it off, pop out the gasket and put a new one in, and TQ it down.

Happy wrenching.

From my understanding it is. The actual name is... switch assembly., valve timing oil pressure. part # is 37250-pr3-003. there are two both on rear drivers side, one per head. They cost 47.78 at delray acura...much cheaper than anywhere else i could find. here is the link of all the parts that make it up and how much they cost. hope this helps. http://www.acuraoemparts.com/delray...X&catcgry5=SPOOL+VALVE&ListAll=All&vinsrch=no

your looking at the wrong part.

002 15810-PR7-A00 VALVE ASSY., SPOOL 2 1991 NSX $353.04 $281.02

the spool valve is just the plunger that allows opens the oil passage.

there is not need to purchase the complete assembly, they never malfunction. dont think there was one faliure of the vtec system in the history of HONDA.

Sorry Ron. Wasnt refering to to the entire assembly just the pressure switch. Should have clarified. Thanks for clarifing. Reason I mentioned it, I was told not to buy the entire assembly just the two filters 12.94 each and the pressure switch for 47.78. I now realize I proberly did not need the switch. just the filters  thanks again Ron for all your help with the brake flush and clutch fluid flush.

oh hey

you called me the other day hun?

you only need to change the gasket with the metal mesh filter.

i think like 12-14$ bucks each.

dont need the complete assembly, you should return it.
