I caught the final Speed race from Mazda raceway and PD won the overall title,4th time and realtime gave Acura the manufacturers title.Tight battles for both. Also our own Andrie H. improved 5or 6 positions and finished in the top third of the field-very good for a self funded privateer.

Re: The Andrie Report

Yeah, good to see you moving up Andrie. Give us the "sweaty palms- riding along" version of your race. The broadcast didn't tell us squat.

Gotta get you more exposure. Hmmmm........have you considered breast implants?

Thanks John!!

It would have been better if we didn't blew the motor on Friday practice. I qualified and raced in a bone stock motor!!! Think about 1.5 sec ot 2 sec faster with the World Challenge Spec motor. My bone stock motor dynoed at 210whp, and the WC spec is 250whp! In 2400 lbs car, quite a difference!

I see Ted's mind is still on breast implants after the Hooters visits

So Andrie, what were your lap times? 1:37 was the pole and that is some 20 seconds faster than my fully street cruising laps at Laguna.

My qual time was 1:41.889. Pole is 1:37 flat by PD. We all qual with sticker tires. They are about 1.5 sec to 2 sec faster than scrubbed tire in the first 3 laps. I wasn't able to pull my fast lap within that time window.

My race pace is 1:41.676. PD's is in 1:39.177. I think I can say comfortably that I would be at least a second faster if I didn't blow that motor. 40whp is a lot for my car. I'm pretty proud with our team's accomplishment. Our car don't have $5K moton nor exotic parts. Heck it costed us only about $40K to build compared to over $100K for realtime's car.

Hopefully we can get more sponsor next year. As I think we are capable to run in the front.

Congrats Andrie, super run on a low budget. It is good to see an NSX alumni driving pro. Grieco should be also.

By the time you build a car and pay for consumables, have you considered renting? What are your thoughts?

What do you think about GAC versus WC? WC used to have the huge fields and now GAC has them. GAC used to have less vehicle contact, but that has seemed to change this year also.

Bob,

I really considered renting. The problem with most renting is I need bring big sponsorship $$ for them to let me put some stickers on the car. While my sponsors consist of few small ones.

To build my car costing about $40K. The rental cost for top running team start at $20K a weekend. Not counting crash damage. I ran my car twice for WC this year. That put me about even, cost wise with rental. But then I still own the car, and can run it in various club racing. Also, sponsor money is easier to find when you have a package including your own car.

In the end, I think rental would have been a better choice for me, since my goal is to make a name out of myself. Building my own car resulting having fun at the races, but you can not get noticed.

My racing funds is drying up quickly. I'm selling the car, and hopefully, I'll rent one for next year. Asking price for the car is $27K.

The only reason why I'm not interested in GAC is because of its enduro format. Too much money for crews and equipments. In addition, you have to find a great partner or you could be biting your nails most of the times.

Andrie, I saw the in-car on the SWC site...(www.world-challenge.com go to discussion section). Awesome job of driving with an obviously underpowered car. I ran the series a number of years ago, and know how hard is is to compete as a privateer.
