Hi; I was checking my car out preparing for a HPDE track day and found a CV joint boot leaking grease. I found a split boot listed on Autozone's web site. I would welcome any comments, if anyone has experience with something like that. Thanks; Howard

Has anyone used these??

The Honda part is not hard to install, I would not mess with a split boot unless someone can vouch for how well it works. At this point I can no longer get CV rebuild parts for the NSX, once they are worn out you need to buy complete axles(while they are available, over $1K:frown:). It only takes a short while to ruin a CV if the boot is leaking so I always take the time to do the Honda boots with lots of high temp grease. I take care of them so they last as long as possible.

replacing both ends on each corner?

I tried Auto Zone, Advance Auto Parts, Pep Boys, and other main-stream auto parts/supply shops w/ no success when I had to replace my CV boot(s) a few years back.

Nonetheless, I acquired some extra OEM Honda CV-boot rebuild/re-grease kits (via Dali Racing & MJ) which I was planning on putting up for-sale on 'Prime as I already have too many spare 'bits & parts. If you're interested, let me know; this way you won't have much down-time ordering/waiting for the parts from an Acura dealer or online vendor (generally these aren't in stock).

I've tried these before (in my drag car, not nsx)... and tbh... they suck horribly.

imo i think they would work well for daily passenger vehicles with driving habits similar to that of my parents.... however with our driving habits (in particular you wanting to do an HPDE), I don't think they'll hold.

What would happen was the force from the grease as it spun around at high speed/torque would 'eventually' work it's way thru the few holes that the split boot has.

The split boot works very well

just make sure it is the kind you use screws to attach both sides.

they have the normal split boots that use glue. The glue kind is hard to install, you cant get grease in the seems.. which is not possable.

The nut and bolt kind works great. I would highly recommend those for diy.

on the rear axles for the inside cv boot on the passenger side, there are some clearance issues with this boot since it is a little fatter.

For my temp repair job on my nsx, i took off the heat shield on the rear axle.

Eventurally pulled the axle and did it right.
