For as crappy as that looks it took a LOT of time and effort to make it happen. Haha... I have all of the original footage to make a better one, but no energy to try. Let me know if anyone wants a modified version of this to use with their sig or something.

Nice job Darren. Can you do one in BLUE?

Thanks - Aloha, Jerry
Can you put a head on the driver?

Jerry, that one is for you. Umm... as far as adding or removing heads or roofs, I would have to edit it frame-by-frame and would be far too time consuming. This is taken directly fron video pretty much.

Also, remember, you have to actually copy this image and post it on a server instead of just copying the link from my server.. these are only on my server temporarily.

Excellent job, quite impressed!!!
Looks like color changes are not too much for you, but if I am being greedy, can you close the roof on the red one & make it coupe with black roof?

Hehe, sorry... color changes take just a few seconds, but I would have to manually edit every frame to do the closed roof... that is just a little too labor-intensive, sorry.

No problem fangtl.. glad to help.

MiamieSeX, here ya go:

I still like my 3d rendered one better:

Oh yes, I will definitely give you top-dawg honors!

Mine was actually taken from digital video, imported into Flash to create a flash-based animation, then exported to a GIF image. There are a few steps along the way that I can export a much more detailed image, but I abandoned the project because I didn't feel that it was going to have the results I had envisioned. All in all, it was fun shooting the video and I only had about an hour invested in the editing process. Not too bad.

Yours is very nice, how did you get the original 3d image into the rendering? Did you create it yourself?

Did you create it yourself?

Yes. I modeled the NSX (using stills from Acura's website and my 1/18 scale Revell die cast model) and rendered the animation using 3D Studio MAX...before I actually bought my NSX (unfortunately, owning one revealed many modeling mistakes...so I recently started over). I have other renderings of this original model on my NSX site.

Funny that you went to Flash to simplify the video for your animation. I'm planning on doing something similar for my website, but using my 3D NSX model and a combination of 3D-to-Flash rendering techniques. The finished anime-style animation will be quite cool...and should also be a nice intro for any NSX videos I shoot.

I just wish I had time to actually finish my new and improved 3D model...I have the exterior modeled with a considerably higher level of accuracy than before, but, since I own a T (and plan to show the car with the roof panel off), I still need to model a hint of the interior (and driver) as well.

No problem Miamie...

Yeah, when I first started using Flash 3 years ago I bought a book to learn it quickly. One of the first things the book said is that many people use Flash for more than just web animation. I chuckled then, but now I use it for a LOT more than just web animation. This is something I did in about an hour using some photos for a base:

I just need to get off my ass and learn Flash 5... I am still using 4. I will probably use it for a long time, though.

That's the exact look I'm going for, but animated and rendered straight out of 3D Studio MAX. Vecta3D, the 3D-to-flash software that came with MAX 4, gets me most of the way there as long as I don't use their lighting (I setup shaders to fake the desired shading).

I'm hoping that MAX 5 comes with a better Flash renderer...but I have yet to receive my upgrade.
