I got caught speeding on 6/12/05 . It has been over 6 weeks,I have not yet received anything in the mail.

Who do I need to contact? the local CHP? I would really prefer not get hit with late penalty.

hey jason, its william. contact the court or police department. regardless if you haven't received the notice, the court considers it your responsibity if late. This happend to me before..what a pain in the arse

Thanks William,

I will contact the Police Department at the city where the ticket was issued. The ticket has the court date of 8/17/05. So I am not late yet, am I?

You need to contact the court listed at the bottom of the ticket. The police dept. will only refer you to the court.

If thats the court date you still got time! Goto the window clerk and tell them the story, get a reprint and even a 1month extension if you'd like. You can also goto court early anyday its available to you. Hope this helps

Maybe the court's copy got lost and you got a free pass!   ...........

Nah, they don't F**** up like that. They want that $$$$$$.

Danny.

I contacted the court by phone, gave them my citation# and driver licence#. They said they have no record of my citation

Called their automated payment system, entered my citation# and driver licence #, again nothing.

Their said it takes 21 days for the record to show up, but it has been over 42days

Don't they want my money? I would hate to have to drive down all the way to Whitter, just unnecessary trouble for me.

it seems strange that they don't have the citation # on record by now. You may have lucked out that the cop didn't turn in his copy for one reason or another. But, again, you MAY!

I'd wait few weeks, and check back with the court again, if they can't find your citation in the system, I think you got a freebie!

Jason, you know what you should do? It sounds like they lost the ticket and you need to go find the officer that gave you the ticket and tell him he forgot to turn it in. Let him know where the violation occured and the date/time. Tell him just to write you another one just in case and remind him to turn it in. If he refuses to do so, ask to speak to his superior.

Thanks Bradley

All joke aside, I think I will find time next week and stop by the court just in case.

Maybe the officer later realized the mistake he made by issuing the ticket at at incorrect zone (45mph). The speed limited sign indicates (50mph). I doubt it.

So the cops now days are still using the low tech way to issue tickets? I thought they issue tickets electronicly, and the written citation was just for my record.
