Speed of climate control fan not adjustable

I have a 93 NSX. The speed of climate control fan can no longer be varied from low to high. The fan WILL come on full blast if I turn the fan knob all the way clockwise to it's maximum position. However, the fan remains off at anything less than the maximum setting (whereas it used to allow variable speeds).

Acura tells me that a transistor needs to be replaced. The part alone is several hundred dollars. Does anyone know if there's a less expensive source for this and how difficult it might be to replace this transistor? Would the procedure be documented in the NSX service manual?

Many thanks.

racernsx25,

First thing is to review the service bulletin on this topic here:

http://www.nsxprime.com/FAQ/Reference/tsb/tsb-92-007.gif

Then look at Page 22-62 in the on-line service manual. It has the procedure for R & R of the blower motor.

The servie bulletin has the part numbers for the blower motor and the transistor needed for the repair.

If you are an NSXCA member you can go to any of the Acura dealers offering discounts and check on pricing. Neillo, Goodson, GUNN, or www.hondacuraworld.com
