Hello Prime Members

I recently bought a SPEC stage 2 single disc clutch kit that came with a flywheel and a bearing. My mechanic called me tday and told me that he could not install the clutch because the bearing would not fit. I am preplexed as I dont know if my mechanic is retarded or if SPEC sent me the wrong bearing. Is there a specal technique to install this bearing? I want to find it out before I call SPEC clutches Monday morning.

Any response will be greatly appreciated

Thanks Ojas, for your reply. My mistake was not to go to Brad at autologic. he helped me with the timing belt issue I had last year. This idiot mechanic of mine is cheap but a complete ass, when it comes to trivial things. Surprisingly he works fine on my Mercedes SL. With my NSX he does not have very much luck. I am calling Brad on Monday and will tow the car to his shop. I will also call Z, I have heard a lot about him but never got a chance to meet him.

Thanks for your input. Let me know when you are in Houston.

Best regards

Your tech is probably refering to the pilot bearing. The pilot bearing needs to be staked into place at a 12, 3, 6, and 9 o'clock position. Not sure where the clutch came from, however, if you have your tech give us a call, we're open today.

In my case, since I've installed the Spec stage 2 clutch, I always hear strange sound from the clutch. I believe Spec stage 2 is good; but I still feel OEM clutch is way smooth. It's just my opinion ;)

Aamir,

sorry to hear about your problems. I think they problem maybe that they just sent the wrong bearing. This happened to me and I just bought a new OEM Honda bearing and Chris/SOS(from whom I purchased the clutch from) was kind enough(extremely kind) to reimburse me for the bearing.

Please feel free to call me if you have any questions...

Thanks Chris, Larry B.,Ojas and Z for your help. I called SPEC Clutches yesterday and was told that the bearing that came with the clutch was the wrong one. They further promised to ship the correct one asap.

Lets see what happens.

Looking forward to get my NSX back on the road as soon as possible.
