I just got a Spec lightweight flywheel and Spec stage 2 clutch installed on my 97. First the pedal effort seems light and the throw is long. Is that normal? also it's hard to change gears like the clutch isn't fully releasing? I was told that after it breaks in it goes back to normal. Anyone one have advice or suggestions?

Thank you

I guess I'll setup an appointment with the acura dealer to get it adjusted. I'm guessing it's the clutch and not the shifter because of the change in pressure and length of throw. Is there any adjustments besides the pedal adjustment to address this?

Thanks agian

I went to Acura (which shall remain nameless) and they basically told me they would put it back to stock for a mere 4700.00 or take a hike. So I left. I adjusted the push rod all the way out on the clutch pedal and it still doesn't fully release. I did notice that the clutch plate went on the input shaft rather tight. Is it possible it's binding and not disengaging fully. I've called spec and they told me to let it break in.

I also have the spec 2 clutch with spec flywheel. I didn't have the problems you are having. Actually, mine was the exact opposite. I noticed the pedal effort was slightly stiffer than stock and it engages gears ok. The one thing I did initially notice was the clutch chatters heavily when driving at very slow speeds. For example, pulling into parking spaces and backing up. However, once you get used to the clutch, it doesn't chatter heavily only slightly. I am considering replacing the clutch with something else, maybe the new RPS twin disc.

I am replacing my spec clutch and flywheel after 15k miles. It has been the worst aftermarket clutch I have ever used on any vehicle. The clutch CHATTER was terrible at first then went away gradually. My car is completely stock so horsepower is not an issue but it has become completely worn out.The flywheel is warped and the disc itself is unrecognizable .I have not done any burnouts in the year and a half that it was installed . I would not recommend this to anyone

Can't go wrong with RPS! I've gone through a variety of clutch vendors (ACT, Clutch Masters, RPS, Exedy Stage 3, SPEC) from street to race. IMO the RPS clutch grabs much better than SPEC and less headaches with the chattering.

I'm looking also new clutch & flywheel package to my nsx.
RPS will be my choice.

I use Spec 6wing clutch on my old sc S2000. There was chattering around 2500-3500 rpm. It wasn't nice sound at all.

I hope to find now clutch where is not that kind of problem.

i have a comptech clutch kit for sale in the forsale forum
