Speakers Need Repairing

Two of my 3 speakers are bad. The dealer says that the amps are gone and to replace each is $1100. I would rather find a place that can repair the amps. I'm in Southern California, and anywhere between San Diego and Ventura would be okay. If anyone can recommend an auto stereo store that they've worked with, I'd sure appreciate the help.
Thanks
Richard

Search the forums and/or check out the FAQs. There is much discussion around the options on who you can send them to or how to fix them yourself.

Watch out or the Forum NAZI will get you.

I had my speakers repaired here http://elliottelectronics.com/ they work perfect and had them back 10 days after shipping.

I had them (both door speakers) sent back to Bose. I got it back in 3 weeks. They replaced both amps and speakers with new ones and they offer a life time warranty on them. It was $75 each, I think.

I know it is just a matter of time these amps are going to blow again, but I know all I'll spend is shipping charges to send them back to Bose.

My passenger side gave out and I can not find the link for replacing the capaciters for the do-it-yourself'ers. Any help here would be great. Dan

Richard,

I would do it yourself if you are at all mechanically inclined. The contents has good instructions and you will probably do a better job than some of the neanderthals at some of these stereo stores. I, got my subwoofer replaced by a nice shop in Newport Beach recommended by my wife's coworker's husband who used to install stereos for Good Guys. They proceeded to bend up all the attachment points and the back panel fell of as I was driving my son around. Learning from this experience, I just finished reinstalling my driver's side speakers which were repaired by Bose. The reinstall went well and I completed it in 75 minutes. I truly believe that the more people you let mess with your NSX the more entropy they will cause.

On the install/removal, a couple of pointers,
-the initial step of removing the leather triangle is not as easy as it sounds. You really have to deflect the base of the triangle as you pull it out. Try using a non-serrated butter knife.
-Remove the top screw of the speaker before you remove the bottom ones. It keeps your from breaking the screw holes off. -Try to remove the wiring off of the door panel before you pull it free it is easier this way. -
-The door panel has a lip on the top by which it hangs onto the metal portion of the door. YOu have to pull the door panel up and out(mostly out) to get the panel to pull free.
-Use the Blue 3M masking tape over the door controls to avoid scratching thes very important areas of the panel.

Other than that it is a piece of cake.

need a contact for Bose.. had all my amps replaced two years ago and one of them is going bad on me again. car is a 91 so may just replace the speakers as well. many thanks.

Pacacu,

You have to get an RMA# first before you send in the unit. You do have to send in the entire amp+speaker enclosure. Not sure if there is a Bose repair center in Hong Kong though. You may want to look up your local phone book.

Here is the US Bose repair center info:

I cannot find this either. Was it lost in the transition with the new board?

Thanks
