Hi all,

The driver door speaker is dead in my '91, but the passenger one seems fine (knock on wood). I was wondering though, how can I tell if the subwoofer(?) between the two seats is operational? My untrained ears tells me there is bass, but when I put my hand/ear in front of the speaker grill I can't really feel/hear anything. Could it be due to the bad driver door speaker, or is the sub dead? I wish I had access to another NSX for comparison.

Also, those of you that had your door speakers repaired, how much did it cost you? I'm wondering if I should just get the replacement amp from M&R to save myself another trip to Basch Acura (to get it reinstalled after repair).

Thanks for any advice,

The speaker between the two seats is not a subwoofer; it's a center tweeter, I believe. There is a subwoofer in the passenger footwell. Coincidentally, the center tweeter between the seats is powered by an amplifier that is also in the passenger footwell.

I don't recall exactly but I think the repairs to the amps ran in the $100-150 range each time, plus labor at home for the R&R.

Thanks again, nsxtasy. Is there a page out there that describes exactly what the various components of the sound system are? I've only read about the bad amps.

Thanks.

I'd suggest you trying searching the FAQ for 'Bose'. I found the following page very helpful: http://www.nsxprime.com/FAQ/DIY/bose_rr.htm

All 3 amps were gone in my car and I chose to send them to Factory Car Stereo Repair in Florida who repaired all 3 for $290 (or $100 each) and offer a 2 year warranty. http://www.carstereohelp.com/
There are others out there but I think most of them ship replacements which are similar but may not be identical whereas FCSR upgrades/replaces the weak components (mostly capacitors) in your existing units.
I had never dealt with them before and have no connection other than as a satisfied customer. I liked the no-nonsense write-ups on their website.

I had my LH replaced 6 mo. ago - cost under $100 in Cocoa Beach Fl. plus remove/install maybe $30 each time. You'll find details on FAQ. RH one just went pop a couple of times so I guess it's next. Do both.
