Speaker balance

I have already looked at the FAQ for Troubleshooting the Sound System and want confirmation as to my problem...That's because in technical I also saw a mention that balancing can be changed.

My left speaker is fine--strong volume. My right speaker and the subwoofer work but not to the same extent as the driver's side left speaker....If I turn the balance knob so that only the right side is working, the volume is actually less than if I have it positioned closer to what should be a balanced setting???

Is the right speaker and sub amp going bad then or is there a way to rebalance? I cannot find that subwoofer under the passenger side but I can hear it (unless I turn balance knob totally clockwise when right speaker is also weaker when it should be at the highest level)...I turn the balance knob counter-clockwise close to 12 o'clock and I can then hear the sub but where is it? Is it mounted behind glove box, on passenger side wall or somewhere in footwell--I pull back carpet and see what looks like an aluminum AC condenser or something like that...

No popping noises at all......Please advise O Wise Experts of NSX Prime--I just bought the 93 NSX a few weeks back and I have been reading a lot.....

Welcome to NSX ownership

Sounds like you have 2 failing amps. Some pop, some just go dead, others buzz and some just fade out. The balance just adjusts the door speakers. The sub is effected by the base adjustment. The Sub is mounted under that alumimum plate you saw in the pasenger foot well. Do a search here for Bose Amps, and on on the net and you will find lots of info. I have repaired all three of my amps with the info that is available out there.

Good luck

Brian

rats--thought it might just be a balancing issue of some type--I have seen all the ways to repair--shipping to Bose is just as cheap now as using the 3rd party entities and so will pull and ship to them using the location info I found previously in FAQ..Thanks for advising as to the location of the subwoofer...

speaker balance problem too..

My 91 nsx just started doing the same thing but it my driver side door speaker that is fading away. Every once and awhile it actually works and it comes back 100% but now its every 1 out of 10 times that it comes back.

I too have to send my stuff into Bose as well, their was a article in a previous NSXDriver mag, on a guy replacing all the resistors (?) himself and costs less than $5 bucks if I remember right.

Let me know how it turns out after you send to Bose.

thanks, Eric
