Spare tire compartment modification:

There are a few people who have decided to remove their spare tire for a number of reasons. I was just wondering if there were any creative modifications done to the spare tire compartment.

I've seen the compartment used to hold a cooling tank for a custom supercharged set up. Anyone ever convert it for, let say, extra storage?

You wouldn't want to get too creative. If you impede the air-flow through the radiator, you're asking for trouble.

How much gerbil power are you push'n?

Multiple stereo shops repeatedly tried to tell me this was the best place to put a large subwoofer. I repeatedly told them that was the best place to leave alone. Besides, I house my gerbil and tread wheel in there. That way, when people ask what I have under the hood.... :tongue:

I was just wondering if there were any creative modifications done to the spare tire compartment.

There are some cars with air deflectors inside to channel the air from the radiator to the hole (holes) of a vented hood. Should be better for aerodynamics when the air is not flowing under the car. Don't know which manufacturer makes them (I heard Procar Specials is working on it), I will let such a thing custom made by my techie. Doesn't make sense without a vented hood of course :wink:
