The NSX.ch club got invited this year by the Belgian Porsche Francorchamps club to attend their meeting at Spa, the famous F1 track:smile:
I had planned to attend with my LoveFab NSX but some gearbox problem obliged me to leave the car behind...
Nevertheless, I decided to go and get driven around in case anyone would give me a ride.
For those of you that have never been there, it's an unbelievable track with very fast and long sweepers that go up and down through a beautifull forest.
The most well know part is the "raidillon" a very steep uphill climb combined with a very fast S portion.
First you come downhill from a hairpin called "La Source"
You can easily reach 200km/h when you get to the bottom but then you are faced with this:
Or from a little closer
It's difficult to realize from the pictures but the hill is so steep that few people would climb it on a bicycle!
I had one session in a Nissan GTR quoted with 600 hp and we exited the top of the hill at almost 180 kph
It takes some nerve as the exit at the top is blind from the bottom.
The F1 crowd manages 280 kph here ...without lifting
The same GTR took me at almost 250kph at the end of the following uphill straight.
A couple of years ago my CTSC NSX could only manage 220 kph to give you an idea!
In the end a club member let me drive his Honda Civic, clearly not in the same league but so much fun when you are pushing a P driver in some of the more complex turns:wink:
Here it is:
Here's a view of the exit of another very fast curve called "Blanchimont".
For the brave of heart only!
Hope to be back next year with the NSX.
