According to the FAQ half of the NSX's went to the United States, not forgetting the old Europe which is LHD too. The Type-S is not as special in terms of production costs as the main changes are done very quickly, other tires, other suspension. What did you get: 50 Zanardi, some of them already ruined on the track or in accidents. What did the Europe get: NOTHING at all. So what have we Europe people to do? Import the parts from Japan, congrats Honda. Sorry to say that, but the NSX is a completly marketing desaster in Europe. Just see how Toyota sells their Lexus brand, that's the way to go! I'm sure that the NSX would have sold better with a custom program like Leather color interieur changes or just some more options than the 3rd rear brake light. And what did they in 2002, just brought up the new Type-R much too late and RHD, just to attract people but you can't buy it. As an economist I have to say that the worst discriminiation a firm can do is not to deliver it at all.
AND: The NSX was a pure image project where costs didn't play a such important role than with a Civic. I believe that the management just let the NSX die after 2000 in the intention to raise profits overall.
Sorry for the comments but sometimes it just overcomes me.
